Last year I had a student who had just come from Australia join our reading class. She was positive, personable, and seemed to easily transition. This poem seems to positive reflect her spirit as well. Happy Australia Day.

Hi mybrooks, Thanks for your review and I am glad you had the Aussie girl and I hope she shared stories with you all. I think most Aussies are pretty layed back and friendly and I suppose that comes for the fact that we live in a free ,well ordered lifestyle here in Australia and appreciate our good fortune. Cheers Christine

There is a musical feel and flow to your words. I like the line "How glad I live where kangas roam". It adds whimsy to your words and gives a happy feel to your poem. Excellent use of words with a smooth flow of lines.

My husband doesn't want me to go. He's afraid I'd try to take home a baby kangaroo. I'm quite an animal lover and probably would if I knew I could get away with it lol.

Ha Ha I would like to see you try, I think customs would have something to say LOL Just come out to see them. You can feed them instead Cheers Christine

I think visiting is a much better, safer idea. I imagine even baby kangas pack a hard wallop when they're scared. Not to mention what mama would do when I tried to take her baby away.

Yes you are quite right Last year in suburban Melbourne a woman waliking in her park was attacked by a kangaroo and had quite a few injuries she lay curled up and it left her alone. lucky for her he didn't kill her
reply by Mistydawn on 26-Jan-2018
Random Kangaroo attacks are rare though, right? You're making me not want to visit now. Guess the only option in a kangaroo fight would be to drop and pray like heck.

Hes they are random and most Kangaroos are quite friendly . My friends an me go for a 4 day holiday in Halls Gap and we have kangaroos visit us every day they come and stand on the veranda for some food so it is a bonus They are everywhere there so We don't worry about them they make for good photos LOL

Grats on your national holiday. Your poem really capture the pride and love you feel for your country. I enjoyed reading this. The poem is also flawlessly constructed with great rhyme, meter, cadence and flow. Wish I had a 6 left for this one - you deserve it, my friend

What a wonderful tribute to your country. Although I have never been, I did have dreams many years ago of leaving Canada for a different life in Australia but as far as I got was to the USA. But I do still enjoy reading about life there. This was very well done and well plotted. I enjoyed the rhyme pattern and the fact that you created the different colors. Thank you so much and happy celebrations.

Hi Janet, Thank you for your review and I am sure your grandson liked living in Queensland our sunny state. I live in Victoria a lot colder but it is Summer here at the moment and nice and warm. every state is different that is what makes Australia unique. Cheers my friend Christine
