Linda,

I love/hate this poem. I think I love it because it's very vivid, you know? And then I hate it because I can relate. I suppose everyone, pretty much will be able to.

If you'll permit, I wonder if you could make it even more powerful by upping the ante a bit and then tying the first and third lines together -- something like:

painful memories
never to be forgotten
burn within our hearts

vs.

burning memories
never to be forgotten
seared onto our hearts

Anyway, a striking piece. You put me right there with you this time. Sending cuddly hugs --

t:)t !!

Hey Lovely Linda, I think there is a certain amount of pain we have to go through to appreciate the times when we can have the truly wonderful memories...A sad but truthful write. Be well sweetie. xx deborah

I really liked this poem because of the truthfulness in its words. Most everyone who has reached adulthood has painful memories they must live with. I like the image you chose as well, it fits with the poem. Thanks for sharing.

Hi
Painful memories are indeed, most difficult to erase. The better way is to accept them and go on in life as a better and stronger person.
Lovely poem, hauntingly beautiful.
Congratulations.

Poignancy and pain are 'married' so perfectly in this work. What a touching photo. Those painful memories are truly 'etched within our hearts'and your verse is a perfect picture. Seems life is sad but 'beautifully sad.' Well done!

Linda,

How poignantly penned are your words in this short, but compelling write. The scars of our past help mold us into our future. Good or bad they do seem to stay etched into our soul. The picture is perfect my friend. I love to sit on my porch while it rains, especially if it's a thunder storm. Take care my friend. God bless

August

You're more then welcome my friend, you have earned the stars. Poetry like this one can only come from a real life experience. You will continue to be in my prayers my friend. Tough know I am here if you need a shoulder to lean on.

This is so sad Linda, because these painful memories can stop us from going on with our lives. I have one suggestion, I would move the first line to the middle, and the middle line to the first. I think it would improve the structure of this piece, but as always it's the poet's choice. Hugs

I am sorry for your sadness, Linda. If it's a marriage breaking up, I understand. If it's a child in pain, I understand. I sense a deep pain. I've been there too - let me know if you want to talk. Hugs
