The best part about the True Story Contest is entries like yours. There's an air of modesty in your story that I found refreshing. It is well-written and flowed quite well. I had no problem imagining your garden and you two putzing around it. Your story also speaks to relationships - with your hubby, with your friend, with your blue pots, and especially with mortality. We do get old and must accept our limitations.
The strength of this post is in the dialogue. I learned a lot about your "true story" by following the lines between you and your husband. You are a lucky woman.
Take care. This post should resonate with the judges. Good luck.

Hello Dan!
Thank you ever so much for your kind and thoughtful review. You understand what I was attempting to achieve. And, yes, I am one lucky woman. Here's a tidbit you may find amusing: my married name is Truelove! Who would have guessed?
Take care as well,
diane

It is always heartwarming to see a couple still happy together after several decades, especially if they've always had obvious differences in living styles. Clearly, you share overriding factors within your personalities, including a sense of humor and the ability to compromise. Well done, and aptly illustrated with your blue pots.

Hello Mike!
Thank you for your thoughtful review. We've had a wonderful ride together, and it isn't over yet! Heading to Steamboat Springs soon for a downhill skiing vacation with our son and daughter-in-law. I won't be skiing, but I may get out the snowshoes. If not, I should have a lot of free time to write!
Best wishes,
diane

It's things like this that let me know that true love does exist. My parents are creeping up on their 40th wedding anniversary I think. My husband doesn't want kids and I could go either way. Someone at work told him it'd be a matter of time before we got divorced because that would be such a huge issue down the road. In her mind we were screwed from the beginning. We laughed and we're still happily married. People will think what they want to think and that's okay. :)

A nice, easy-said this biographical story, friendship and marriage worked well, so lovable, more than a friend, husband is the best, he knows how to keep a family go on; well said, well done; good luck with the contest. Keep writing. DR ALCREATOR

This is a very interesting and true story you have penned about your husband and your blue pots. I enjoyed reading this very much. It made me understand why my husband has a compost pile here also. Very good wording and imagery with your words. Blessings, Teri
