I wish I have memories of a husband like yours. Sadly, I have none and you are blessed Mrs KT for having such an amazing man by your side. I guess I am destined to be a casualty of failed marriage and cursed to be single all my life. Thanks for your heartwarming story. Good luck in the contest. God bless.

    Hello Dolly,

Thank you for your thoughtful review. As an aside, my daughter rowed in the Henley Regatta. When my husband and I arrived at our bed and breakfast in Shiplake, I just had to smile because the owner's garden was filled with blue pots as well! Kindred spirits!

Hi there,

This a nice and sweet piece you've written here.

assorted annuals I spend weeks collecting - collecting.

and "guide" the operation - you don't really need the marks for emphasis. It's a practice that seems to be phasing out. But if you are going to use them, I would suggest using the single ones to differentiate from dialogue.

All the best

    Hello!
Thank you for your thoughtful review and your advice about the quotations. That was my tongue in cheek comment to say that my husband was really doing most of the heavy work, and I was there to make sure it was done properly.

Thank you for sharing this story. Perhaps some cannot relate to a good relationship spanning 4 decades, and for the give and take of conversations that allow these relationships to stay strong. In the scheme of it all, "things" do not really matter. It's how we handle situations like the blue pot discussion that matter. Laughter erases any anger or perceived anger about the trikets.

I totally get it, being married almost 42 years. "Things: don't matter, feelings do.

    Hello Thesis,
Thank you for your thoughtful review. My husband and I are really fortunate = a whole lot of love and a little bit of luck. But...are you ready? Our last name is Truelove! Go figure!

Without looking at one another, we both started laughing.
The kind of good-natured, unbridled laughing that only best friends of four decades would understand.
And once again, I was reminded why I dearly love this man who has put up with all my idiosyncrasies, gardening schemes, and countless blue pots, for all these many years...' This is the kind of love and understanding we all long for. I find it to be very touching. A beautiful choice to use blue pots they are stunning as is this write...may you enjoy the rest of your lives together as best friends. Well done love Meia xx

Delightful account of a 'marriage of almost opposites. It shows how beautifully you are matched with your compromise and interest. Very pretty picture too! Good luck in comp.

I was chuckling before I reached your husband's quip about the number of pots announced to the world. Is that picture yours? I LOVE your blue pots - almost as much as this sweet story. :)

Best of luck in the contest.

    Hello!
I am pleased you chuckled at my offering.
The pots in the photograph are not mine as by the time I photograph them every summer, the flowers and ivy or vinca arrangements pretty much cover the pots. But if you were to read "In My Mother's Footsteps" in my portfolio, you would get a good idea of the "wild and wooly" nature of our front yard even if the photo was taken in 2012. I do have more recent photos of our yard, complete with the pots, but I just now attempted to upload them, and I was unsuccessful.
Thank you for your kind review!

You're very welcome. I actually forgot to say that after the chuckle came out loud laughter - LOL. Did the pots multiply? LOL.

I have knowledge from very good sources that the pots will have definitely multiplied by the time spring rolls around northern Michigan this year! :)

I enjoyed this true personal story :) You make me think I should collect pots too. My house is blue, so maybe blue flowery pots? I'll see what is available in spring. The problem with my yard is that we live on a corner by the bus stop. We seem to be the free shopping yard for people to help themselves to our stuff. We've had too many things stolen from our yard at night. The pots would be too like an invitation, I fear.

Since you mentioned a leaf blower. I feel like marching over to the building across the street to complain. Their maintenance man uses a leaf blower and all the leaves he blows end up in our yard with the right wind direction. That's not welcome after hubs spent a lot of time tidying up our yard.

Anyway, this is a fine contest entry, and I wish you well with that.

Joy xx

    Hello Joy!
I am very pleased that you enjoy my offering. And I am pleased that I have inspired you to perhaps purchase some "blue flowery pots" and a leaf blower! Couldn't live without them!

I love the picture of your blue pots and the potted plants.
We have some giant blue ceramic pots too where we set our orleanders
in spring. Come autumn it's too much for these warm weather bushes in
cold Germany. Luckily we do have professional help from outside. I don't think
my husband and I would manage to move the giant pots and plants to their
wintering spots in the cellar!

Thanks for sharing your romantic true story. I thoroughly enjoyed the read.

    Hello!
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful review.
Our growing season in northern Michigan is so short!
I would love to have outside professional help, but I am too stubborn!

    Best Wishes
