For your first sci-fi story, I thought is was great. You kept the scientific elements to a minimum and added some romance to the plot. What's not to like? Good job. I looked for spelling and grammar errors and found none. It flowed really well. I didn't see a lot of wasted words.

I suggest: "Just women."
I also live in San Diego and drive to Las Vegas a few times a year. You have ruined the drive for me now.
