This is a great poem. The picture fits it perfectly. I don't understand why some writers don't add pictures to their posts. I am going to fan you so I can read more of your writing.

This is so cute. Congratulations on your win. Good job with your poem. I must admit to stumbling here: "each breath's a hic-e+up." Still the poem is nostalgic and reminds me of my own childhood and bundling up my kids as youngsters. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn. Thanks for sharing my children?s poem and the congrats. I am delighted it brought back memories. I deliberately wrote Hic-e-up the way it sounds (onomatopoeia?) so the reader could hear this poor kid trying to breathe.

Happy New Year RODG: You've made me recall when during winter school days, Mom used to over stuff my clothes with me. This poem has such a realistic glow. I like it. Next time I'm
stuffing my clothes with me to go out on cold days your poem will come to my memory. And I'll smile, and bear it. Thank you for sharing. I like, I like. rhonnie69.

So well written - I love this poem, it brings back memories of going to school in New York as a child, wrapped up just like this. My favorite line is: "And gloves enclose my little hands so tight each finger cries." Very well done.

Hello Mystery Poet,

I really enjoyed this poem. It is a terrific contest entry. I enjoyed your rhymes. The descriptions of bundling up were so good that it brought back memories of my own childhood bundling up days. The only thing missing in this poem is needing to go pee after all the work to get bundled up lol! Then again Imthink Robert Munsch took care of that story.

I think you have an outstanding contest entry. Too bad you didn't include a picture. Kids like to look at pictures when they read. This would make an excellent board book for young kids.

Sincerely Joy xx

I have never heard the expression 'bundle up' before. But your descriptions make it clear and we wrap our kids up warm in the winter so that they can play outside and I love the fourth stanza best! Love Dolly x

Thank you so much for sharing my poem, Dolly, and your kind praise. "Bundle up" may be a Midwestern phrase, but even my Canadian grandmother used to use it when I was a kid

Hahaha, good rhyming all throughout this cute little children's poem, Anonymous.
I don't know if you have ever seen that beloved Christmas classic, 'A Christmas Story', but I couldn't help but think of the scene where little Ralphie gets bundled up by his mom so much he looks like a tick about to pop, LOL.
Well done, and good luck in he contest.

I am delighted you enjoyed this poem, Dean. No, I have never seen "A Christmas Story," hut love the clip you inserted.

Really? Why, that's one of the greatest classic Christmas stories of all time. Right up there with 'It's a Wonderful Life', and 'A Christmas Carol'.
    You're welcome. :)
