I think this is a great entry for the 'Dialogue Only Writing contest' writing prompt.
I think its a good picture and nicely compliments your story.
Well done and good luck to you with the competition.

Oh, my! That was the most romantic excuse I've ever heard, and I'd even forgive my husband if he came up with half as good excuse as yours, LOL, it was superb. I cannot read this out to mine, as he has a fantastic memory for those things that will come in handy sometime. I cannot see anyone bettering this entry, it's fabulous. Really well done, and good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xxx

Do people really do that, Deinz22? Crush pieces of chocolate in a box of chocolates to see if it's the kind of center they like or not?
I like the Forest Gump's mother's philosophy, myself. "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get."
My father, bless his heart, he would just bite into them. If he didn't like the filling, he simply put 'em back in the box.
I enjoyed your story. The dialogue between these two was very believable, much in line with what a long-time married couple would say to each other.
I noticed no errors.
Best wishes to you in the contest.
~Dean

Thanks Dean, much appreciated. If I bit into them and left half you might have the makings of a gory blood scene for one of your stories, so I will keep to mushing, thank you very much! I take enough heat for that method.

    God bless, Dennis

What a sweet story, best friends, love of your life forever. The characters really come to life and the dialogue seems natural, what you'd expect them to say.

Hi there;
Such a lovely conversation between two lovers, who have been in love for ages. I liked the description of the box of chocolates, and how it is equated with the new life in retirement.

Well done and good luck in the contest,

~patty~

Well said, well done, experimentally retold how the couples use layers of chocolate card for living at par with age; a pleasant read; thanks for sharing this, wish you good luck for the contest. Keep writing. DR ALCREATOR

This should get a lot of attention from those judges. I wish you luck.

It's an endearing exchange between husband and wife on the occasion of Valentine's Day and his retirement. The part that works in this story is the husband's witty comebacks and use of the metaphorical "age card." In a day and age of race cards and man cards, you cleverly insert a new one and play it through to the end of the post. At a minimum, you have given me inspiration to smash my favorite chocolates in the box. She's getting tired of me licking them.

Great entry.

A very sweet piece here. Good topic and well realised.

"Give me a "for-instance". - need another set of marks at the end here to close the dialogue off. The one set only closes off the quote.

I'm not as steady as I used to be, Bill." - here you need to include another single mark to close off the quote.

All the best
G
