Hi, Connie

You have written the words of my heart in this poem. I worry so much about what kind of future our young people will have. Coming from California, your state has suffered so much! I think your call to be aware of what we do to pollute a very timely one.

This resonated with me particularly:

'Some progress we have made, it's true
with scientists who warn us now.
Yet, there's still more that we can do.
Let's vow to make a change somehow.'

Great to be reviewing you again, my friend.

Hugs, Bev

Thank you, Bev, for a beautiful review and for the six-star rating. Just like you, I do worry about our young people and where we are headed with our climate, especially when I look at my two little grandchildren.
I hope you get to return to writing very soon. I miss you and a few others that I've lost touch with due to my not being around here much.
    Hugs,
    Connie

I've been off-site as well. Most of the last year has been spent working with an editor and getting my Father Brian mystery polished. I've had to go back and change my whole beginning premise which was a real bear. But the advice was very good, and I'm making progress on my new angle.

    Have a good week!

Your words are so important, we need to take care of the earth and make the necessary changes. There has been so many natural disasters recently, it makes one think.

Definitely it seems like something has gone awry in our weather patterns - well documented here in these rhythmic flowing stanzas - a veritable snapshot of the state of things in our world ..our planet home..welldone

A very important message in this poem, Connie. Why haven't people woken up? You tell it like it is, and you ask the right questions, but still people don't get it. Some of the scales have already tipped. We are living through an extinction level event, with many plants and critters already gone.
It's like we are on the stern end of the titanic. The bow of the ship has broken away and has sunk. We cling to the upended wreckage, and say It's not too late to save the ship.
Earth doesn't need saving. We do.
Excellent ABAB Quatrains to get your point across.

What a wonderful review, Rose! Thank you so much. I love your description of how it's like we "are on the stern end of the titanic" and how we cling to the wreckage and believe it's not too late to save the ship. But it's not the earth that needs saving, it's us!
Thank you again, and thank you for that precious six-star rating.
My best to you in 2018.

Hi Connie. This is a well composed poem on a topic on everyone's mind. We cannot do much to stop climate change, if indeed that's what it is and not the normal cycling, unless third world countries hop on the bandwagon (their air is nearly unbreathable) and limit the world's population. We are pushing the limit at 7.6 billion. Too many for our small earth to handle. Families have to stop at 2 kids, just replace themselves. Exponentially humans are breeding themselves off the planet. Thank you so much, Marilyn, for your thoughtful review. And I agree with your comments about limiting the world's population. Doing so is indeed a challenge.
Thanks again and good to hear from you.

We're gobbling up our resources and natural habitats to service a ever-burgeoning population that must be provided for. It won't get any better. Too many people and making more daily. There will be no space for our grandkids grandkids.

I agree with you Connie. We have not had much snow so far this year. Usually it has covered the ground and it stays. It snowed a little on Dec 23. I think that was to announce winter was here, but that is the last we have seen of it. The poem is written in perfect tetrameter and the rhyming id superb. Well done my dear friend. Awww, Nancy, so good to hear from you! You are one of those on this site whom I truly miss. Thank you for such a lovely review and for the six-star rating. I have been popping in on occasion and have noticed that you are writing a lot of fiction these days and not so much poetry. I am going to make an honest effort to try to spend more time here this year on FanStory and to follow your writing.
    Thanks again, my friend.

Indeed we need to change before climate change effects more things and lives. Too many, even if they belief it, just won't change their ways.

I recycle everything and drive a Prius. lol

Excellent poem and statement.

Connie.
Excellent poem and a true message. I feel terrible for those in California who withstood the wildfires and are now dealing with floods.

Well said... john

Connie,

I hear you. This is a strange and wonderful world we live in. I appreciate your concern and care for all of us. I'm one of those who is not so certain that humans can totally affect the outcome of the earth, BUT I DO believe that we have a responsibility to do everything we can do to take care of this place we live. So I do agree with you completely about being careful with our time here.

My only hang-up is that God created this planet and He holds it in reserve until the time Christ comes back, so I find it a bit hard to believe that man could have COMPLETE control over it's destruction, if you'll see what I mean?

Very powerful write. Thanks!

Thank you, Robyn, for your excellent review, and I do agree with you that we humans aren't totally responsible for the outcome of the earth. But even if we are a little responsible, we should do our best to respect our planet.
Thanks again, my friend, and my best to you in 2018.

A very well-written poem about mother nature and the danger her existence became because of humans bad habits and negligence through the ages that brought us to this state if emergency.
