There's also individualism -those who think for themselves. It's too easy to be a follower rather than a leader.
The downside of Utopia is that perfection also prevents lessons of failure that teach us how to reach our higher selves.

Now John, had to get the dictionary out for egalitarian word. Believing in the equality of all people politically, socially, or economically. See you already have me using bigger words than I ever have.

I'm not sure what to think about everything I read in this piece John, but I will say it had moments. the Ego section, whoa! You definitely write passionately about what you believe in but to what end purpose. That is what this one left me with. xoxo Kiwi

Hi there;
You have done a great job with this essay. When read slowly, it is apparent our society is moving in the wrong direction. Utopia is getting further and further away, as the 'isms' and their beliefs take a toll on our civilization.

Well done,

~patty~

Le Carré happens to be one of my favourite, if not my very favourite thriller writers who tackle social criticisms in their works. Some years back, I had the opportunity to talk to him about the political manouevring going on in Africa, I admired sharing the belief with him that Africa would be a lot better off if the political power would be more overwhelmingly in the hands of the African women.

But that's what the rest of those who depend of Africa's resources know and will not allow, even if it means "popping off" an African leader here and there, who does not conform to the "loot and keep the püopulation as ignorant as possible".

"I suffer from the same frustration that every decent American suffers from. That is, that you begin to wonder whether decent liberal instincts, decent humanitarian instincts, can actually penetrate the right-wing voice, get through the steering of American opinion by the mass media." John le Carre

Thanks once again.
