Sometimes, that is all it takes. Sadly. I'm sure that the songs of the 60's and the 70's bring back a lot of PTSD in Vietnam vets on both sides. Thank you, for writing this.

I know exactly what you mean Barb How many people remember a time in their lives by associating it with a certain song playing at the time Those memories maybe happy or sad
The sad ones are hard because you would just want to get that song out of your mind Thanks for sharing

Good morning again, Barbara: That's all it takes sometimes to trigger the Post Traumatic Stress. Flashbacks of any severe trauma, times of hell, you said it right in so few words. This is a great 5-7-5 poem. I hope it does well in the contest.

It's amazing how we all relate to each other's work here on F.S. We spring off of memories of others which gives us ideas. It's an observation, NOT an insult. Your poem was read gust after another similar subject.
PTSD is a nasty tormentor It manifests as physical sickness and unfortunately mental illness too.
So, your 5-7-5 entry was well written, good luck in the contest. Syllable count checked LOL
CONGRATULATIONS ON being #1

One never knows what will bring back a memory. Your message is clear that a song can do this - maybe it did for you and inspired these words. It is something we cannot control - hopefully, memories are also present for climbing out of hell and becoming whole. Still, you've created a simple, concise real statement through your 5-7-5.

A song or a smell or something that we feel or taste can certainly launch memories. Good use of something really tangible that brings out feelings and memories and powerfully expressed as a "time of hell."

Everybody can have this, I did for 30 years due to the beatings I got. All it took was an angry face and I was gone. Thank you so much

Another instructional haiku--and I figured I'd get a head start on it--I've got pre-traumatic stress disorder--it's never to early to plan ahead--I'm a clever fellow--It's hard to blow your own horn!

I think it's spelled traumatic? Your description above the title spells it, "tramatic". Even my spell check has just kicked in to raise a red flag about your spelling of that word.

I like your message. I thought I was the only one that got traumatized by certain songs and the memories they bring back. This is an excellent contest entry with all the syllables counting out properly.

Best wishes in the contest.

Anything can bring back a memory. A smell, a song, a sentence. Post traumatic stress disorder causes lots of suffering to many people. (by the way you forgot a u in the word traumatic in the title).
Good luck in the contest.
