This is humorous, and you tell the story in a natural story-telling way. You do a great job of describing the dogs. I love how Rosebud was able to get at the plate of sandwiches. Glad Brownie was able to grab a sandwich too. They very kindly left sandiwiches for you and your dad. Cute story. judi

Well done, this is a funny story, how the dogs acted differently but cooperatively in sharing sandwiches; well said; I have enjoyed the read. DR ALCREATOR

Hi there,

Ah, the ingenuity of the canine breed. lol
I can just picture this entirely.

with caring people, Golden retriever - Retriever should also be capitalised.

Mom came out with some with some sandwiches - delete the repetition here.

Who said dogs aren't smart? I know they are. I enjoyed this entertaining story. I had a good laugh.

I don't believe Beagle or Golden needs to be capitalized.

You are right about the 'bay' of a beagle & that of a basset hound.

Good job & thanks for sharing. Jan

There's some good stories coming out of the Animal Crackers Club. This is one. They say exclamation points are like garlic: Use them sparingly. But that's for you to decide. This is a fun story that chronicles the exploits of one industrious dog and one lucky dog. I checked hard for spelling and grammar errors. I found none. I still imagine you sitting on a log when you tell your stories. They are that genuine. Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed it.

Ohhh my man, this is such a true life experience, I can't help but get it right...
With those two dogs, life was never boring!...They constantly kept us amused!...
Thank you very much for the great review and rating... It's really appreciated!!....
As far as the exclamation points go... You're right, but I have a tendency to get excited!!

Now that's what I call helping. Even though Brownie didn't know he was helping, he reaped the rewards. Glad they left you two sandwiches. lol

No, I never underestimate the intelligence of animals. They always surprise me.

Good story for the club. Thank you.

They are to me as well. I once heard a zoo vet say that animals show intelligence most when they're not worried about survival. It's amazing how smart they are. I love all animals. My sons hope a rhino never comes around or I'd be trying to take care of it, too. lol

Oh, how I love beagles. My family raised beagles all my life when growing up. Once settled in my own home, I too raised beagles for a number of years. And like you said in your story, there is nothing like hunting with a bray of beagles. I had to put my last, and most favorite, beagle down last February at the age of 14. He developed an enlarged heart on the right side. I witnessed him having a heart attack, and after bringing him into the house, I knew it was time to let him go. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. His official name was Buzz Lightyear Wood, who my son had named. He answered to Buzz, and was the very best beagle I ever trained. Thank you so much for your story and bring back some great memories.

We got ROSEBUD from my uncle in Missouri as a Christmas present....
As we were traveling back home to San Diego, Calif, he did a RIPE fart!....
That's how my dad named him... "He smells like a rosebud!".... Very Cool dog!!...
Thanks for the great review and rating, by the way!!

This is a cute story about the resourcefulness of animals. One thing you may want to change is saying "me and my dad" of "me and him", as it would be more correct to say 'My dad and I" or "he and I". I enjoyed this story, and wish you all the best - Cheryl

Hahaha, what else could either of you do at that point, Jim?
The damage had already been done and the crime perpetrated.
Not only that, but the perpetrator and main protagonist who orchestrated what's now called, the "Great Sandwich Garage Grab", got away, Scott fee!
Funny stuff, Jim. Dogs sure are smart, aren't they?
