I myself was relieved when Christmas was over. My kids are older so it's more stressful to buy gifts because they're so picky. It's always one holiday after another and it seems like we never get a break! Nicely written. Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest. NB

In my opinion, an absolutely perfect narration of the times in which we live - I was a teen in the wonderful 50's, and things were different then. We enjoyed each season and holiday to its fullest. I was also shocked when I noted Valentine decorations, cards and gifts in the stores today. I thought to myself and almost said out loud - it isn't even Hew Year's day yet! Ar you kidding - this truly is commercialism at its worst! Your poem's stunning and easy rhyming verse is both a delight and a haunting reminder of days past - much luck in the contest...
