Intriguing approach to this picture assignment! It is definitely a sobering warning to humanity that we do not doom ourselves to the fate of the poem, prisoners as a lesson to some aliens on their planet.

I really like the childlike tone and lilt to this lil zoo of alien humanoids. It appears extra terrestrials have invaded the Capitol and encaged the wildlife.
Even though light in tone there is an ominous thread woven through the piece, the world ablaze, their planet doomed because of hate inside their being. I absolutely laughed at the ending, don't get too close, they bite.
Don't feed the animals. Super job with the picture this challenge.

Wow. That's exactly what it is, a childlike tone. I couldn't put my finger on it as I read it a couple times. It's something I seem to have gotten locked in to. I'm not even sure this reads as free verse with all the rhyme and pretty steady rhythm. Oh well, I somehow started writing like this and can't stop. LOL
Anyway, I think it's okay for this piece and I'm delighted you got a laugh out of it. We, as a species, probably do belong in a zoo. Maybe I'll be proven wrong ... I hope so! Thanks a million. :))

Animals kill t satisfy their hunger. Man kills for the sport of it and brags. Guess a psycho ward is like a zoo in many ways. Humans and apes both go bananas sometimes. Guess you would know, Lion king. if they bite the hand that feeds them. Could also be a metaphor of pure hate that lives inside us all. It is the darkness inside them,not the light. This is good. BOO-tastic!

As usual, I'm miles behind. Ekphrasic is just a fancy word for finding a cool picture and writing about it. LOL One of the new clubs has a challenge every couple of weeks and we all write about the same picture. FUN. Everybody writes something totally different.
