An excellent entry in this four line poetry contest Gregory. You've created som ambiguity in this nicely scribed rendition. The shadowed darkness suggests bonded imprisonment, not necessarily physical, so well done with this pearler. Good luck, blessings, Roy

Great imagery. The poem generates a definite mood and impressions. Fine presentation to suit the tone and tenor of the theme.
Love the phonetics. you've such a keen sense of the music of words. The alliteration of H and subtle assonance of O-U in scuffed unlit and remorse, the subtle assonance of E as well, and the combined consonance and alliteration of S plus consonance of F are all superbly woven.
Read this aloud thrice!
Fine personification of remorse too.
