Very nice Christmas poem about how things are when we are living alone with our families far away and there are no children to watch as they open the gifts for them. I identify with the message of this poem as I have been alone about 15 years of the last 22 years. I do not have a problem being alone. Patricia

A very well-written Christmas poem. The best gift for Christmas is a peaceful time with loved ones around. The physical gifts is only a minor gesture of appreciation given with a pure heart.

You're absolutely right, poetwatch, and what you've written here in your melancholy yet uplifting entry for the Christmas Poetry Contest couldn't be more true.
The Lord tells us in no uncertain terms that He will never leave us nor forsake us.
He's always true to His word, of course.
I do hope you have good friends and family nearby to share and celebrate Christmas Day with.
I hate to think of anyone--anywhere--spending such a special day alone.
Well done, good rhyming throughout.
