A candle does have a magical glow and your thoughts of seeing your loved one just one more time resonating deep with me as I feel the same and would not be afraid if I could just see him one more time. A sad meloncholy write with warmth and love throughout, love Dolly x

Comment from Meia (MESAYERS)
My heart is still your heart, I walk beside you every day,
A love like ours lives on like I had never gone away.
Try not to dwell on sadder times, I have no pain you see
And I want you to enjoy the time, until you come to me. '
This had me crying so much as I can empathise and know how that feels...and the words are so beautiful...the flame is alight within your heart so yes the story is true. With all my warmest regards Meia xx

Oh Meia, thank you so much for your kind words.
To evoke emotion in someone is always such an honour. I wrote this in an almost dreamlike state when I was thinking of my late husband, which I do often but especially at Christmas and was thinking how amazing it would be to hear his voice again.
Thank you for taking the time to read and for such an encouraging and uplifting review. Your kindness is much appreciated : )

Wow, Kazzawin.
This read so genuinely that you had me convinced this was a true story.
Call me gullible.
It's very nice; a poetic proclamation portraying pure passion, patience, and portraits of a past played out in flickering candlelight.
Good rhyming, flow, and presentation.

Thanks a lot Dean. I have a thing about candlelight...eerie, sensual and mysterious. Especially when it?s just you and the candle!
I wish it was true but alas...no : (
Thank you for your review and the generous stars. I?m glad you enjoyed it, have a great Christmas : )

I turn off all electronic appliances (with the exception of my computer of course), light two candles (one black, one white) when I wish to envoke what I like to call my "Poe Mode", Kaz.
I've done some of my best writing in Poe Mode.
You have a very scary Christmas as well.

A very well-written Christmas poem. Our loved ones still live in our hearts even when they are not physically here with us, we still feel their presence at special occasions.

Though not true, this felt true. That's a major accomplishment for a piece with this depth of emotion.
Style-wise, it flows beautifully. Not a single word is out of place and every rhyme sings. This is a great Christmas poem, but it transcends the holiday to become a truly sublime work.

This is a beautiful entry for the contest. You carry the theme of Christmas in a clever and inspiring way by telling us a tale of hope delivered through the candles glow. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was touched deeply by its message. All the best in the judging and thank you very much for sharing it.

Wow. I absolutely loved your poem. I will be astounded if you don't win the contest with this gem. I too love candles, and I also believe that our loved ones do attempt to contact us, to reassure us they are okay. It is okay that this is a fictional account because you make it believable.
My heart will always ache for him though tears have mostly dried,
But not because my grief has dissipated since he died.
It's all because that message I received so long ago
Is carried deep inside my heart, no matter where I go.
LOVED these lines.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas,
Jan
