This is SUCH a beautiful entry!! This is my poem, ha ha. I've got the silver shades, laugh lines, and pigment patches. And the bigger belly, ha ha. Here's to aging!! Blessings...

Never mind. Laugh lines are good. At least on reflection you can say you have had your fun and it was all a good laugh along the way. It is those with the hang dog lines of misery and distaste that I feel sorry for. Was it really as bad as all that for them?

The illustration gives compliments to your one-line poem. Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the oldest of them all? Your face shows love and life well lived, laughter lines and wrinkles give love to those who see your wonderful face. XXK.

I see myself when I look at my young 17 year old granddaughter. I like your one line poem, I am sure there are more on FS that can relate to your line than not! Well done, it was a perfect entry. Good luck! :) Sandra x

Thank you so much Sandra. I enjoyed reading your review. Yes, ageing can be hard to come to terms with. The trick is to try and do it gracefully : -) ~DD

The metaphoric words and artwork mesh well in showing the before and after of aging. Both women are beautiful. I guess this was too long in the poetry editor to come out as a one line poem. It shows as two.

Good luck and keep writing

Thank you so much dragon poet for taking the time to review my One Line poem. Yes, when I posted the poem I'm sure it all fit onto one line. Later, when I went back to view, it did show as two lines so I have had to give it a bit of a tweak. Thanks for your input. ~DD

Wow I am impressed. You have covered the changes in our features that come with age to perfection.

This is one of the few one line works that actually has some depth to it. Many of them are just statements or inspirational tracts

Best of luck in the contest

hugs

Freda

This is wonderful and so true. I love the image to accompany your poem. We tend to see ourselves as younger. I know I do. But the mirror doesn't lie. An excellent entry into the contest. Marilyn

Thank you so much Marilyn. I enjoyed reading your review. Yes, ageing can be hard to come to terms with and I too still feel younger than my years. I guess the trick is to try and do it gracefully : -) ~DD

This is a lovely contest entry :) I feel every one of those pigment patches, silver shades, and laugh lines and they make themselves at home on my own face too lol! The beautiful picture brings the reader to understand your message perfectly. At least this reader felt the reality.

My one concern is that your words don't all fit onto one line. I wonder if you could trim the message down to fit it all on one line as the contest calls for? You are more seasoned at contest requirements than I since you have many wins under your belt.

Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you so much Joy. I enjoyed reading your review. Yes, ageing can be hard to come to terms with. The trick is to try and do it gracefully : -) Thank you for your honest comments. I'm sure my piece was on one line when I posted it but going back in to view it was on two lines. I have had to tweak the line a bit to suit. ~DD

-Nice image and presentation.
-Good imagery and description.
-"Canvas" is a good metaphor, as well.
-It looks and sounds like
she is still doing well and hopefully
has had a good life so far.
-The one line poem
is one line, not one sentence.
-If you try changing the size of
the font, you should be able to get one line.
-Good luck, DD.

Thank you Pam for your thorough review. I appreciate your comments on the One line v one sentence. When I typed and posted I'm sure it all fit as one line. Going back in I see it didn't so have had to reword it slightly. Thanks again. ~DD

A very well-written one-line poem. We cannot stay young forever on the outside, no matter what magic tricks we try. But our souls will stay young and get wiser to know that is not what really matters.
