Well done, once again. As I said in the last, so glad I turned up for these early in the piece. Hope you are we have all missed you. Keep up the good work. I hate the attitude of men against women and judgement.

Thank you, Sankey. I appreciate your comments so much, and for your support. I'm much better now, but it took a while!

Things were bad, but the times and her family change. I purposely put the setting at a time of upheaval to show how things do get better for her as society shifts.

    Thank you, again, my friend!

Excellently written and the suspense mounted making us desire more and more but leaving us panting , waiting, hoping but having to wait.

Thank you, Barb. What a wonderful review. We should have a writing contest where we review something. Not a technical one like they have sometimes, but one where our reviews are well written and supportive. I like it.

    Take care,

Hi Rhonda,

Another excellent instalment. The emotions come through well and the portrayal of the male family members is very effective. Tough times and tough treatment.

It's comforting light enfolded her face - Its.

    Thank you, G-Man!
I do have a problem with those "Its/it's". I know the difference, I guess I just get in a hurry. I do appreciate your attention to detail, and personalized reviews.

    Take care,

Glad you're writing again, Rhonda. I just feel so unhappy about the young girl's situation so I don't think I can keep following this book. It's really just too frustrating to have such a horrible father and evil brother-in-law and a helpless teen giving birth at the risk of death to herself and her baby.

Also, with all the sexual assault allegations daily on the news...Tell me when it gets better. We need strong and smart women who can turn things around and not be victims. And certainly not seek justice 40 years later.

No, Mindy, do NOT wish for a girl. If that monster doesn't get the son he wants, he'll keep raping you till he does. At least a son might satisfy him.

Rhonda, I really like this story. You write very well. Of course, I'm wondering, just like all the other readers, why Mindy didn't tell her family her sister's husband had been raping her? Maybe they would have believed his lies, but when the child was born it might look like him, and BECKY would remember what Mindy said. I think SHE might believe her sister in time.

Things will start turning around for Mindy, and Chuck's abuse isn't as hidden as he thinks. Still, women of the day were afraid to speak against a man. I need to make that point more obvious. I'll work on that. Thanks!

I appreciate the read and review, and am so glad you brought up a point I need to accent.

    Take care,
    Rhonda

Hi, Rhonda

= I enjoyed this chapter where Mindy reflects, and is determined to do things on her own.
= I'd be scared as all get out being alone like that. Okay, so I'm a baby.
= Although, those labor pains tend to change one's cheery disposition. (*<*)

Cheers, J

    Hi Jacqueline!
As always, we pattern our characters after someone we know or have heard about. One of my teacher friends had to deliver her own baby because the hospital wouldn't take her without insurance. They told her what to do, and she went home and did it. Once the baby was born, they took them in and treated them. I don't think I could have done it!!!

Thanks for the read and review, my friend!

Another fine chapter, Rhonda--and I can't get over that father--what a jerk, with a capital dick--I with there was a right-cross button on my computer!

That's cute, Mike. The right cross button. I'll have to remember this. Again, I'm patterning this guy off someone I knew. Of course, I'm letting him get away with more in the story than he did in real life.

Thanks for reading and reviewing, my friend!

Another good chapter and you still leave us hanging.
Don't take to long with the next one.
Well written. Characters are strong, story is clear.
Well done.

Thank you so much, Sharon! I appreciate you reading and keeping up. I actually have the third one ready, as it was part of chapter two, but it was way too long together, so broke it in two.

    Take care,
    Rhonda
