Love the image to illustrate your poem. I like to bowl, too, although haven't done it in a while. Keeping active is the important thing. Good job with your poem, well composed. I like the banter between the bowlers. Marilyn

good poetry
a great version of YAY for the contest
I like the above ground comment
I think that your poem depicts everyday life for all who want to still get out there and be the person they have always been but a lot slower and more painful but still the same person
have a smiley day

This is a great commentary free verse poem entry. All the rules of the prompt were followed. I believe you scored a "strike" with one. The picture is great. Good luck in the contest.
Blessings,
Brigitte

Thanks, I wish I could get more of those Xs. I usually have to settle for a spare /, if I'm lucky. Appreciate your read and review.

Loved the humor you used here, Harry! I especially liked the names of the teams. I don't know how much is fictional and how much is made up for the contest, but it does sound very true to life.

This is a good entry for the YAY! I'm Getting Old writing prompt.
On one hand I say, good for you for keeping up the exercise and getting out there.
On the other I say, maybe your group should look at starting a cribbage club.
I know I'm not up to bowling anymore, cards is more my speed these days.

This is a well-written eye-opening, realistic poem about aging. I did find the team names comical. Think I like squeaky bones the best. So what if your balls are lighter, and don't speed down the alley the way they used to, you guys are together, having fun and that's all that really matters, right? Great job on your poem.

Thank you for your read and your comments. I agree, we still have that desire to be competitive although not as fiery as it once was.

Well, at least the Speaker here is still able to bowl with friends and that's what counts. I like his light-hearted tone as he describes why they cheer now and what their team names are. Easy to visualize these team members sitting there as they wait their turn to lob those lighter balls.

Thank you for the read and the review. Your time is appreciated. Yes, about the speaker, there still is the thrill of competition. Of course, winning is better than losing.

Bowling is a young person's sport. There is a time when the participant know it is time to quit. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a good read.
