I can relate to your ever word.
Alas those years are over for me those happy days remind in my mind yet my aging body can't handle any more.
Thank you for sharing.

Lovely memories of the fragile baubles, the old nativity scene, all with a special place in the heart, the old decorations that we get out from year to year. Loved this one, and a great final verse.
cheers

A very haunting piece, gave me goose bumps reading this. In a way people do long for yesterday You last stanza tied the feeling up in ethereal magic.

Oh my. This is just so sad!! 'Populated by ghosts'...hauntingly beautiful. This is deserving of six stars, and I am out. I have about 5 nativities...I set them all out, all around the house, I just love them. Beautiful, blessings...

I love my nativity too. It's similar to the one in the picture and to the one I had growing up.
    Thanks for reading.

I enjoyed reading your poem Maria. It works well with the repeated 'so fragile'. I like the way it starts with memories of past. happier Christmas times & ends with you wondering about those. I believe we see things differently as we age than as children especially in regards to Christmas. Your poem has a tinge of sadness. Thanks for sharing. Jan.

Maria, this is a beautiful but aching poem filled with the memories of Christmas and how those Christmases are populated by ghosts. As you write, time and memory and even lives are fragile:

So fragile...
My dreams
And my innocence.
My belief
The Three Kings
Would visit me.

Your poem is painful but true to my experience and memories as well.

Thank you for sharing your poem.

Thanks for reading, Andre. I guess our memories must be quite similar when it comes to certain things as we are the same age.

Very well-written Childhood Christmas memories. It seems that we cannot do most of those things today. The children are more interested in their technology devices than the things we valued.

This is a lovely poem about Christmas memories.
I also remember delicate ornaments of fine glass, all wrapped individually in rigid boxes.
When the tree was lit up it was like each glass piece was aglow.
Thank you for bringing back those memories.

Hi, Maria

= And that's a fact, indeed.
= Memories--gone forever--save in mind's eye and heart.
= Nostalgia, beautifully said.

Cheers, J

It must be a very sad time for you Maria. I too remember those times, mum and dad are gone, and more recently, my brother,, precious times, locked away in our hearts. These delicate symbols are more than just baubles, they represent wonderful times! If I don't get to tell you, may the Lord bless you and yours this Christmas and into the future, well done Maria, Roy

My mum is still alive, but she has dementia. However, I do enjoy Christmas very much even though I miss my dad.
Merry Christmas to you and your family as well.
And thanks for reading, of course.
