Brett can I ask you something? Now, this is only an inquisitive question.
With your song writing lyrics, do you solely write them for country music?
Country music seems to be the music that predominantly tells a story in its lyrics unlike pop songs which seem to have basic lyrics with a lot of repetition and a catchy chorus. This is purely my observation.

Good morning, Brett: As far as I am concerned, this is another well-written piece from you. You have made it interesting and you have explained it all so well that those of us who may have never considered writing lyrics, could now be at least curious enough to join your group. It sounds challenging but it could be a lot of fun. I'm still not sure yet though as I still have so much already on my plate. If I can find the time - I still might. Thanks again, Brett.

Again, my warmest thanks for utilizing my collage.
It does go perfect with this tip as I am sure it will go well together with all of your tips. You have a flair when it comes to writing tips. I enjoy reading them word for word and as soon as I finish this review, I will go to the Community and sign up. It will be hard work but I am willing to give it a shot.
I appreciate you taking the bull by the horns.....no better yet, the note by the key....is that right HMMM? the song by the lyric (heehee)....Looking forward to many more tips and lots of learning to be had.

This is great, but please finish the supernatural story. There are other writers on here that have given up great stories -- please don't forget your readers, and don't leave us hanging. :P
Good luck with this club.

This is very good advice. I have over seventy songs in a file. I haven't posted them yet because my songs go through several rewrites before I think they're good enough to post.

Brett,
I enjoyed your tips for songwriting. It is much like any writing. Revising is part of that 'game.' You presented this is an easy to understand way. I found it interesting that you included how to join the club. Good job with that, too. Best wishes with your club. Jan

Another good and informative session.
Well done.
Maybe during one of these you can explain, for the unknowing like myself, what the difference is between song and poem.
Thanks once again for sharing your knowledge.

That is a good question and I will answer it.

I may do so in the threads of Lyrics Make The Song as I am sure club members would be interested in that answer as well.

"...lyric writing is all about showing, not telling."

I must admit the above surprised me, but also made me aware of the many lyrics I love but simply never thought to examine properly. I took all the great lyrics for granted and simply sang or whistled them along.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. In future I'll take a good look at my favourite lyrics to appreciate what the lyricists had spent time making great for my enjoyment.

Thank you for sharing these tips with me. I did look at the clubs on the Community dropdown and was interested in joining this one. You have convinced me with your words. I agree with you regarding the rewrites. The same principals apply in Graphic Design. The first design is not usually the best, same with lyrics of a song. I listened to a hit song of old on the radio today and for the first time actually just concentrated on the phrases and rhyme and realised why it worked so well.
