You are right; the governments have gotten too big and too powerful. In the U.S., our forefathers told us to get rid of a government that was no longer 'of the people.' Perhaps it is time. Thank you for sharing,

I suppose a pun is supposed to elicit a groan and a sigh...I wonder if, in the case of politicians, absolute knowledge does not corrupt absolutely...excellent short poem.

This is a profound, simple, short poem with a political message about the unnecessary complexities of government. You use as an example and metaphor bike riding. How hard is that? Get the government involved, and we will see. Peddle has a double meaning of peddling a bike and peddling (selling) wares.

People in government are famous for passing laws that require the rest of us to follow, while excepting them from the same laws. And at the same time they get perks that a hard working man or woman who works at the same job for 30-40 are expected to live on a meager social security check. The system is all screwed up. Patricia

A very well-written short poem. Most politicians are so full f themselves, they only serve themselves. The people of the country just have to pay taxes so that they can live decently.
