Nice poetic description of family fun on a holiday night. Food and music seems a part of every holiday no matter whether the holiday is religious of secular.

I thing that 'Every feeding' should be changed to "All the food'.

Keep writing

Hello,
This sounds like a wonderful happy time of celebration for family and friends.
I can sense the excitement through your words and bouncy flow from line to line of description.
I was not familiar with this festival but it certainly interesting.

Hi Rhonnie, this sounds like so much fun, and I enjoyed learning about the festival of lights, or Diwali. You made it sound wonderful and your rhyming is great, unforced and makes for a very smooth flow. I have no suggestions for improvement. The picture is perfect for the poem, too. I also enjoyed the author notes and I am sure I would love to go to this festival after reading your poem.

Thanks for sharing it Rhonnie, and enjoy the rest of your day/night, blessings, Ana.

This is like a Carpe diem poem reminding me of Herrick's poem "Corinnas going a-maying" The meaning behind it, is that we must live in the moment and live to the fullest. Life is too short to be laying around. Thank you for this poem, I totally relate to it!

Rhonnie,

I am totally unfamiliar with Diwali, but your post sounds like you've done much more than just look up a few research articles on the topic. Either you are an exceptionally talented author or you have had some personal experience with some of these Diwali events and moments you're describing.

Your poem really brings these concepts to life. Poetic additions and 'tricks' like alliteration, consonance and assonance, internal rhyme and more.

The genuineness of your joy while sharing info about this holiday AND in your invitation shines through every word, so it's clear to me why you wear the winner's ribbon. *smile*. Congrats!
