Full of vivid imagery. You would have to live in New York City a long time and some time ago to witness this level of depravity. A deeply moving, intellectual write. Well done, once again. Jacqueline.

Heartbreaking and beautiful. really shows how sad and heartbreaking the world can be. I love the imagery you used, I could picture everything you were talking about with ease. It really gives a different perspective on the world, it really feels like I'm watching this through someone else's eyes. Good job, I love your work!

So dark and twisted but real and raw, I love it. It's like looking at death in the face with grace. I enjoyed reading this. As I feel my works similar. I like this style.

Wow. Stunning picture of death, depression, poverty, and hopelessness. You made it palpable as you walked us through the neighborhood through the narrator's eyes. Brilliantly done.

Such bold adjectives worked great for imagery. I love all the detail in your work, simply bold and colorful really taking the reader's mind down the path with you. Nice work!

This is a very descriptive poem as though we're walking through the streets of a city. Although this poem was written in 2017, it fits our war-torn city streets of today. Thank you for reposting it.

Your melancholy poem is filled with rich imagery. We see an area that once thrived as a centerpiece for commerce and life. It's now broken down, having disintegrated to the most basic aspects of life, maybe to return someday once things are better.

I'm not sure if this is futuristic or represents specific events, but at any rate, it really set a stage and played our emotions about what was experienced. Very sad about the mom, but quite realistic in its description,

Take care,
Rhonda

You have painted a pretty dismal picture, Everett. In the beginning, it seems like you are describing some war torn country overseas. How can this scene be played out in the United States? What is happening to us? Where are we? I am losing faith in our country.

A highly descriptive free form poem, with an imaginative narrative, downbeat and rather dark, with an almost inevitable course toward an end, which almost speaks of the cost of life that some will live near the edge. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

I have only read the first verse so far, but I want to tell you what I love the most about it is how nicely it flows The jump from line to line is seamless. Back to your poem.
Mid-way, I've decided to stop again. This is not only a poem, but also a story well told. A sad, disillusioned view of the world seen through the eyes of the main character.
Now I've taken a deep breath. That ending is spectacular.
