You say so very much, entire histories, in six little words. It's a cocktail that poisons, for sure. A wonderful entry!! Blessings...

Hello Brigitte Elko
Hello Brigitte Elko
In so few words you, indeed, have written excellent words saying
An ineffable (indescribable,)
cocktail...
of blood and dust.

Brigette,
A very imaginative -- and sad -- sort of poem. I do like the way you are honoring veterans in it. Great idea and always worthy. Thanks so much and good luck!

Yes, it is sad. My thoughts are that no one ever forgets the sacrifice of many. Thank you for reading.

Great poem and word choice made me think of my veteran uncle who was laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery with full military honors. I just visited his grave last month and will be thinking about him on Veteran's Day. Thank you for sharing your timely poem that honors our heroes who gave their all for our country.

That was exactly my intent. Prayers of gratitude to your uncle and all the others that sacrificed so that we may live.
Blessings,

Beautiful. Very deep. Just a few words hitting (my) home is a rare occurrence, but you have done that. I am touched by this and will be thinking of your words when I have my beer next weekend, at our local Legion, when Canada celebrates Remembrance Day.

"Blood and Tears", is short, succinct and very much to the point. Every line of this piece is woven with the golden threads of truth. I look forward to reading your next post.

This is excellent. Without our brave veterans, there would be no country. I recently posted A veteran Remembers. It's a poem about my father. I hope you read it.

Thank you for remembering us. No true words could have been placed in such short wording. Yes, blood in dirt cakes to an orange paddy, but soon washes away with the rain.

Washes away, never to be forgotten. You, and others, should forever be showered with praise and gratitude.

When asked if I served, I always answer to be just another grain of sand on a mighty long beach. My blessings to you.

...may the memories never be washed away.

A very clever and yet ambiguous six word poetic entry in this contest Brigette, man is made from the dust, the blood is significant of life, spilt, it means death, man fashioned from the dust, returns to the sod which nurtured him! Well done, great entry, a lot said with a little, well done, blessings, Roy

I work retail and our store has never done a Veterans' discount of anything like that. This weekend, next weekend, we will be trying it for the first time. Right now it's just Friday-Sunday but I do hope they keep it. I think this is a trial run. I think we'll get more business if they make it a permanent thing. So many have risked everything to give us our freedoms. They are not forgotten.
