So green the grass that rests above the resting place of America's fallen heroes. So proudly does the green grass grow, honored by the precious bodies that lie below. No finer use has any ground been that to be blessed by one's who did so much fine duty show. God bless them one and all.

Wow! This review is poetry, beautiful. Thank you for reading. This needs to go under my poem. I could only use six words.

Please feel free to use these words in a reworked separate poem if you like. I won't mind really. It was your excellent poem that inspired those words.

That is so generous but I think you should submit. Because the green grass........is such a wonderful addition to complete the picture. Six words could not tell all. Wish we could do it together. I will find a way.

How about: So green the grass that lies above
Bodies the Earth holds with such love
    It cradles our fallen heroes
So proudly this green grass grows
No finer use has the ground known
Than to hold our sons as its own...
Maybe you can see what you can do with that. Change it, improve on it certainly and also add to it.

This is a great entry for the 6 word contest. I have many veterans in my family, one of which was my first husband who lost his life while serving in the Army. Thanks for sharing this with us and good luck in the contest.

Thank you for reading. I love it when readers can relate to my work. May we never forget those that gave their all for us and our country. My husband is a veteran also, I honor him and all others.

Good morning Brigette;
-you have definitely vacuum packed's words in a pressure cooker of
an independent thought that is rich with imagery and solid with conjecture of something that's improbable. But you still get it across in a way that shows the and any dusty and sandy piece of earth, there are our soldiers fighting for our cause.
-Pictures graphic enough to take in the enjambment and understanding quite clearly.
-Good luck in the contest and take care and have a good one.

The photo is somewhat vague on my computer screen. The poem is truly beautiful, said in only six words. Not easy to do. (I am in this contest too, but yours is far better.) Best wishes with blood and dust, and the contest.

Will check yours out, I'm sure it is good. Your work is always good. Good luck to you, also. In six words it is hard to tell a story and I think my image by Ski-II made it possible. Thank you for reading and reviewing.

This poem says so much in so few words. It is a good picture and a good poem. I liked the way it sounded when read out loud and the way it fitted with the picture. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

That says it all, Brigitte. Six words to describe the gallant men who risked everything to keep us safe. They will never be forgotten. Well done on this little poem with a great picture to accompany it. Good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

Its tough to write a poem in six words, but this satisfies the requirement, and I think you picked the two perfect words here; blood and dust. That kind of sums it up. The moment when your life drains back into the earth. the ultimate sacrifice. estory

Yes, six word story telling is more difficult than being verbose. Thank you for reading and reviewing. May we never forget...

Oh God! it is a scary picture

"An ineffable cocktail

blood and dust"
the word cocktail gives me a shudder and this short poem has hit a raw nerve
All the best for the contest.

I wish war and terrorism was a faded a memory as the picture seems to be.
War, blood and dust shouldn't be ineffable cocktail.

Good luck in the contest.

Keep writing

I saw the news this morning and wept.
May we never forget and only learn to live with the consequences while relying on faith to keep us mindful.

Yes that was very sad. I just saw a story on that church shooting that said that one family lost 3 generations in that shooting.

    Have a wonderful week.
