I'm really confused. I thought Sir John and Gwendolyn were married. Now we find out she is his sister, yet still the mother of Francis? Incest? Sorry, maybe it's me, but this is not making sense. ?

It's alright, Phyllis, I get confused loads of times. Thank you for reading this part. Nothing makes sense when you don't know all the facts, but hopefully, they will come. :) Sandra xx

Can you explain it to me? Sister or wife? You list her as wife at the bottom. And she is the boy's mother, so... I just got more confused. LOL!

Next part. Veronica's thoughts on who is who has only been supposition so far. Hmm, I should have thought of that when I listed her as Sir Johns wife, perhaps, in hindsight, I should have just given her name, but I didn't want there to be any clues given that early in the book. I can change that now. Thanks, Phyllis. These thoughts are what I look for in reviews. :) xx

Glad I could help. I agree. We need to know what, if anything, confuses the reader. That's the last thing you want to do. You can lose readers because of it.

That's so true. I've stopped reading some, even stopped reading a book I borrowed from the library because of that. I've changed it now. Next part might clarify things better. :) xxxx

Well hurry up and post it then so my brain won't be so scrambled. :)

Intriguing and well done! You drew me into the story and made me want to read from the beginning! I understand reviews are suppose to have constructive criticism, but honestly cannot think of any here. Bravo!

Another great chapter Sandra. I really enjoyed the suspense level that leaves me still wondering who Frances is? Why is Veronica there? What will happen to Joe and his family? And of course the future of Frances? I also think about how Veronica's family is dealing with her disappearance? You provided great details and the reading flow was great. Very well done my friend.

Hi. I enjoyed reading this chapter. I want to go back and reread others. Great dialect with the UK English and West Country language.... makes your story very believable. Great job and thanks for sharing this story with us.

Hi Sandra. I enjoyed reading this chapter of your story. I'm not a regular reader of the story but it's easy to get the gist since I've read other segments. Your writing is clear and interesting with good descriptions and detail. I did notice the discrepancy in "Francis/Frances," and wondered if I was missing something--were there two children, a boy and a girl. So I re-read it a few times. I've come to the conclusion it is "Francis," a boy. If I'm right, you may want to correct the "Frances" spelling. Marilyn

Thank you so much for picking those errors up in Francis, Marilyn, I've made the corrections. I thought I had corrected them all but I'd only caught a few. I'm delighted that you did read this part, I know many of my friends on here will only read poetry. That's what I used to do. I'm pleased you enjoyed this part. Thanks my friend, xxx Sandra x

Hi Sandra. You're welcome. Another thing I thought that was so charming in the chapter had to do with Francis--playing with him--hand going through hand. Mothers, especially can appreciate that.

I'm really pleased you liked that, I had a visual in my mind with this scene. I could just imagine how a child would giggle at that. xxx

Aw, now we might get something done. Lady Gwendoline is content with Meg caring for Francis. Joe has a right to be worried, His family is to be thrown out in the cold if she can't find a solution to the problem of him seeing Francis. Well done! Love it. Nancy

Very exciting on the edge of my seat kind of writing. It keeps moving at a pace I enjoy with descriptions to tell me who I'm with and where I am at all times. Can't wait to read more.

Wow! What a turnabout, firstly Sir John isn't married and it seems Francis' (remember with an 'i' instead of an 'e' , "Sir Francis Drake", e is the female, Sandra) you always beautifully contrasting characters, lovely warm people like Veronica and James, Joe and his son, Meg and Lady Gwendoline. Second surprise, Lady Gwendoline is now a ghost, I remember she wasn't well, well done Sandra, good taling, blessings, Roy

While Veronica trying dealing with several problems, I also feel for Joe's house situation. Then one of Veronica's concerns suddenly appeared at the end of this chapter. The ghost of Gwendolyn. In the paragraph that begins with (, The Manor House was very quiet...Look the line (That brought a smile a smile) Did you mean to repeat? (a smile)

Thank you so very much for spotting that, Phillip, I went back straight away, and it took me three reads to see what I'd done! Honestly, I think I'm having so many 'senior moments' these days! Thank you so very much for that and the lovely review. :) Sandra xxx

Heck, Sandra. That has nothing to do with age. That comes from keeping your head to the grindstone. That means you are working very hard. Forget that senior moment, bull.
