This begins well and the 2d stanza is fine until I get to / a grin/. And the 3d stanza could deftly use some more thought. Overall, the presentation with color and illustration is charming. Good Luck on this one.

I have always be fascinated with mermaids. My father was a seaman and told us many a story about the mermaid he 'almost' caught when fishing. Lovely poem with excellent imagery. I also love the illustration you chose to accompany this one.

I love the use of the mermaid and the consistency of its reputation with people and sea. The story here brings back a lot of memories of stories and movies about mermaids that I encountered as a kid.

What an inspiring imagination you have.
I think the Flower Poet is a beautiful fantasy. Your poem had a bit of the flavor of the Odyssey and Odysseus in his travels.
