This trinet, Danger Lurks, has the proper set up and revisits the Hickory Dickory Dock story with the inclusion of the ever-hungry-for-mouse-meat cat. MOUSE it's what's for dinner.

This sounds like an interesting variation on the nursery rhyme
Hickory, dickory dock
The mouse ran up the clock
The clock struck one
The mouse ran down
Hickory dickory dock.

Either way the weight of the mouse on the pendulum would play merry hell with the timekeeping.

    You are correct it is a variation of Hickory Dickory Dock. Thanks for the read. And you bet his scrapper l believe would "play hell with the timekeeping."

Adorable Trinet about a curious little mouse! Nice rhythm that reads very smoothly. The flow of the story is perfect and is a great piece for the writing prompt entry!. Loved it!

Dear Anonymous Poet;
Thank you for sharing your entry for the Trinet Poetry contest. You nailed the requirements of the poetic form, and I think this would be a great piece for children. The photo you chose reminded me of the little mouse in the Christmas cartoon. He breaks the clock and needs to go back and fix it so Santa will come to the town.

    Thanks for the read and the story. Not familiar with the mouse that breaks a clock. Sounds cute.

I enjoyed this one and voted for it. I like how it tells a story in so few syllables and the presentation is awesome. I hope it goes well for you in this contest. xoxo Kiwi

You followed the Trinet form as you told the story of the mouse. I like the line
chimes time, a good description of the grandfather clock. I like the "s" alliteration.
