Interesting well told story of time travel. You have good character development and setting description and use of local vernacular. I haven't ever heard of time travelers being more like ghosts and only seen and heard by some. In what I've read and seen they are always corporeal.

Keep writing

No one has ever time-travelled before so it's all supposition, who is to know who is right? Will we ever know? lol, I know I'd love to time-travel. Thank you, Joan, for reading this part of my story. The first book in a series of three will be published soon. It's
nice to know that you can read a part and get the feel of it, Thank you, my friend. xx Sandra xx

I know no one has time traveled, so I was just trying to say your idea of it is singular. Which is good. You're welcome.

I was thinking after I'd replied to your review. How do we really know if time travelling isn't aready happening? Now, there is an interesting thought!! :) Thanks Joan. xxx

We don't really. Some books say that it is kept a secret to those who aren't contacted by a time traveler, which is the majority of us.

Nice work, Sandra. I enjoyed this part, trying to rationalize the albino boy by finding another man just like him. I liked your pun, lol. Looking forward to more.

Take care,
Russell

Thank you so much, Russell. I'm really pleased you picked up on my pun, it wasn't until I'd written it, that I realised it was one, lol. Surprises in store coming up. Big hugs, my friend. Sandra xxx

G'day Cousin.

"But(,) you're both wrong about the child. You're right, though,"

" the thought of the tongue-lashing his wife had given him probably meant he felt safer away from the cottage." (Yep, I know that feeling very well lol.)

"No, it's hereditary."

"What be hereditary?" (Just like us. You are so beautiful and I... I'm so... nah.)

"It's like getting the ingredients of a cake wrong, so it doesn't come out of the oven looking the way it should." (Hahahaha! Reminds me of the time I cooked a sponge cake for one of my white cousins husband's birthday. He was a cricket umpire and was waiting for a piece of the cake and was talking to his mate on the phone. I gave him the cake...

"I've got to go and umpire this game... but I just had a piece of Feral's sponge cake and can't move becuase it was so heavy lol. Last time I cooked a bloody cake!)

""There be a small church not far from here." (Wow! I just got goose bumps.)

"No time like the present." I grinned at my own pun, but it was lost on Joe." (lol.)

"Yeah, that's right. It were magic! So, what do we do now?" (Yeah, white man's magic. I should get me one a them light switchy thingys.)

"You're speaking now. What d'ya want?" (Friendly bugger.)

How frustrating. So close but yet so far.

Another very well written chapter, mate. What are they going to do next? I wonder.

Great job.

Cheers Fez

Aha! What indeed? Oh, dear Cousin, I just love your fun reviews, thank you so very much!! By the way, you are not the only one who can't cook up a light fluffy sponge, many of mine have ended up in the bin. Or, if not quite as hard as concrete, have been grated (lol) up for the birds. Have you ever seen a bird skydive without a parachute?? LOL! Thank you, and a humungous hug for the 6 stars and wonderful review! You are my favourite feral cousin!! :) Sandra xxxx

Great photo for this.

The branches would soon be bare, as the leaves were plucked one by one by the gusty breeze.---GREAT visual. Loved it!

Love the problems you keep having them overcome. I am learning that is good writing, and it's jumping out at me. :-)

Like the ending and look forward to reading the next chapter. I"m so excited to see how this will work out...but it makes me sad bc I'm loving reading this story. Hope you have plans for more when this is all done.

You have a fan for life! :-)

Interesting concept and well portrayed. Even though I've not read the first part of the story I was able to keep up and understand what was going on. I look forward to reading more.

Sandra, I enjoyed this chapter. I haven't read the previous ones but this is a great story line from what I could tell. I hope to go back and read the others. Everything was easy to relate with and the characters have great interaction. Thanks for sharing this with us. Gramalot8

-Joe and Ver. both learn a lot in this chapter.
-From the knowledge Joe is gaining from Ver.,
he will be the most learned man in his time--
magic lights, albinos, time travel!
-Ver. is patient in explaining to him, as well.
-After learning about Michael, he then
learns about the albino missionary.
-However, after they question the man
and Ver. looks around, there is no sign of him.
-It was hoped he would help Sir John understand,
and not take it out on the boy or Joe.
-However, Ver. will not give up, but where she will
look for more clues now is the question.
-Well done, Sandra.

Nothing is easy for Veronica, is it? LOL! Thank you so very much, my dear friend, for another of your wonderful reviews and for all those stars! Especially the big ones!! Things are not what they appear to be for Veronica. She has a lot to learn yet, and neither James or Mildred can help her this time. :( Big hugs, my wonderful friend. :) Sandra xxxxx

You are very welcome and deserving of all the stars, Sandra. Poor Ver.--it's not easy, and no help from James or Mildred makes it even tougher, esp. in 1846!
reply by the author on 20-Oct-2017
Veronica won't be entirely on her own. Shhh. :) xx

That is a relief--I was worried about that! I have a guess, but I will wait and see what the next chapters bring. I do miss Mildred, though🙂

Hello Sandra,
Another excellent chapter.
As with all tales, the solution cannot be simple,
else the story would end at the beginning. lol
I doubt the albino or those who shelter him,
would want him "discovered" and his presence known,
not in this age of superstition and fear of the unusual.

You've handled the dilemmas of time difference,
and knowledge, speech, folklore and belief very well.
I would think the sight of Veronica walking
through a door or wall would be quite sobering,
but only Joe can see that, at east to this point anyway.

Could James be wrong? Say it isn't so!
Else we've been wasting our time.

I have faith in James. There is an albino.

Well done!
Till "next time."
RS

Could James be wrong? Absolutely not! There is definitely an albino ... somewhere! lol! Thank you so much, Robert, for this really nice review. You are such a flatterer, (which my overly large head appreciates!! ) I love your signing off, too, I had a chuckle at that. Big hugs, my friend. The 'next time' will be quite soon. At least in your lifetime!! :) Sandra xxx

This is a great piece of writing. Even though I've jumped into the middle of your story, it was easy to relate and characters are convincing. Also, the topic is engaging.

That is so nice of you to say that, thank you so much. It's not easy jumping in, so I'm doubly pleased that you were able to enjoy my story at this stage; Thank you also for the 6 shiny stars! That was a terrific bonus on top of your review. Big hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xx
