I am trying to catch up on all the ones I missed (I was away on vacation) and I am limited on time during the week. I read at work before punching in.
I keep looking at the clock saying "can I fit one more in?"
This story keeps getting better and better!

What happened to Andrea to get her into that awful state? Did he have anything to do with it? Maybe she just had too much fun in the sixties, but that wasn't the feeling I got.

Hi, Cindy;
Thank you for reading this chapter of 'The Waiting Room.' I think Andrea was just too much of a party girl in the sixties and seventies. The cigarette smoking didn't help much either.

Very interesting. I've always wondered about people I've known in the past and what they would be like now, but then again, is it wise to seek knowledge of a past that wasn't meant to be?

I think you are creating an interesting serial here. this sense of revisiting people we have known, or have connections to our lives, turns up some disappointing things, some disconcerting things. It is very much like the ending of Our Town, where the girl wants to go back and relive a moment of her life. She is advised to choose an insignificant moment, and picks her 16th birthday, only to discover it was the first time her future husband leaves a birthday card and flowers for her. I think these moments in your story bring to light this sense of disappointment, of unfulfilled ambitions, or feelings of inadequacy that we have to deal with in looking back over our lives. The other element I find interesting is this idea that we look to machines nowadays to foster our connections with life. I don't know if this is a good thing, I believe machines and technology are inherently bad for the soul, but there is no question that they are a part of our connections to the world, and your use of them here as the means of reconnecting with ourselves is interesting. It raises the question, How do these machines affect our emotions? our relationships? the quality of those relationships? Is something lost in this use of machines? We await the next installment. estory

I loved this even though I haven't read the previous chapters. What an interesting machine. I'm not sure I'd want to know about past lovers, but then again it might be an eye-opener to find out. I definitely want to go back and read the other chapters, Patty. Gramalot8... Jerri

This is an interesting chapter.
The chance to see how old acquaintances turned out is fascinating, but could be disappointing.
Nice cliffhanger ending.

This is such a unique story - which makes it all the more intriguing - and leaves me wanting more.
No one knew how long, or short (a time), they would be waiting, - just felt the sentence was incomplete -
whats-her-name - should this not be - what's-her-name - just wondered, Patty

Hi, Margaret;
Thank you so much for reading and reviewing this latest chapter in 'The Waiting Room.' I appreciate your suggestions to make the sentences stronger. I really struggled with 'what's-her-name.' My grammar checker wanted to change it.
I'm glad you want to read 'more.'

Very well written with a wonderful pic.
I'm very grateful for the fact that I didn't marry the woman who i was foolish enough to propose to before Alona. Everyone that I meet absolutely adores Alona.
We celebrate our second anniversary on Friday

Wow, where do I get one of those machines.
Just think of the advantages and disadvantages such a machine would have.
Well written, makes me want to read more. I want to know what happens with him and his wife.
I liked it.
