Poignant stuff. I think we have all suffered at one time or another from the effect of an attraction that could not be ignored; either on the giving or receiving end; and the inevitable painful conclusion.

Difficult task to get a story told in 50 words, but you have managed it. The course of the plot is quite clear and there is even a suggestion of more than just calling on her in class in the last sentence.

In addition to producer's Harvey Weinstein's horrendous rape and abuse of women, one fallout of such behavior is that such talented women decide "The course requirement was too much." We will never know what she was capable of accomplishing because the environment was inhospitable and the moral costs were too high. I saw this evening an interview of one promising screenwriter who gave up her career because Weinstein made a pass at her. This is sad, and I thank you for pointing out a casualty of such sexual harassment--women's potential.
