Surely, I was enlightened by this piece. For example, "From childhood, we begin hiding our inner self away. We learn to adapt and survive in the outside world." is a true statement because I practice it daily in the outside world. Not only does this statement ring true, but there are many others--along with the quotes as well.

I am certain I've read your work before, and equally certain it was as brilliant and as eye-opening as this. I couldn't agree more that we must all recognize the holistic nature of the world we live in to see it clearly, to gain true wisdom, to be a functional part of the circle of life. Thank you for sharing this!

Very nice. I like your examples of well-known historic figures. You make it easier for someone skeptical of your points to understand what you are talking about. This is intelligently written. Well done.

Informative and well written throughout. I appreciated the quotes from various famous sources to help bolster the points being made. I would have liked to see the conclusion focus more on the role of the mystic, bringing the piece back around to its beginning.

I'm also typically not a fan of essays that begin with the sort of "Webster's Dictionary defines a blank as..." Seems to be over-done. It works well enough here, but there it may be worth considering a more compelling first paragraph to draw readers in.

Overall a strong piece, I think it certainly accomplishes the goal of explaining the role of the mystic in advancing wisdom.

I love your mystically-intelligent posts, my friend, especially since I totally agree with you and admire your ability to articulate these concepts lucidly and with conviction. Lots of superb quotes too! I suggest adding a dash before the names in the quotes (optional).

NOTES:

*"A person who seeks(,) by contemplation and self-surrender(,) to obtain unity with or absorption into the absolute

YES:
Mystics do everything they can to cultivate and maintain four primary virtues: understanding, service, compassion, and love.

*These virtues all flow into one another,(No comma) and end up merging into a perfect unity and forming one entity.

*The road to enlightenment is an arduous one, by(*but) is available to all.

Insightful and true:

That road is not one of learning something new, but rather one of discovering what was always there.

Great quote:
"Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to understanding by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each." -- Plato

Well voiced and true:

Whether or not others want to achieve Enlightenment is irrelevant to a mystic. He is simply an example and resource for those who wish to understand. He knows that there is no such thing as a permanent ego and, since the ego is the only entity that fears death, the mystic cannot harbor that fear.

* The right hemisphere receives the same energy waves and interpreting(interprets) them in terms of amplitude, thus creating the concept of size and space.

* Our understanding is limited by our ignorance(,) and our ignorance is primarily caused by our level of literacy when we attempt to communicate ideas to others.

Good ending note:

Becoming aware that we are all responsible for what we behold is the first mandatory step to enlightenment.

Almost a six, but needs a few spag fixes - since I know you usually fix those, I am taking the liberty to award a six in advance.

Superior subject and super delivery!

Bravo

Warmly, rd
