Great story of a family celebrating Clampett style. Story flows well and is amplified by adding real touches about a soldiers' life and contrasting how his two worlds are so different.

I definetly didn't know where this story was going and I was just as curious as the Sargent. Too bad for the sad ending. Well done and good luck.

I'm glad to hear it left you in suspense. Do you think it'd be better with a happy ending?

No, it works well as is.

This is certainly an unusual tale, a very well written and easy to follow. The dialogue that you created made the characters seem real. Well written and good luck in the contest.

This story is amusing and also very emotive as the reader quickly sympathizes with Private Jackson who generously gave his whole family a vacation and a pet. We also like Boyle who sincerely has the best interest of his men in mind. A delightful story with a sad but believable ending.

I recently entered two contests with entries that were sad or grim and quickly discovered voters prefer happy or positive works. Your present ending works for me, but you may discover I am in the minority. Rod
