Patty I find your write so true, background mood music can make all the difference to your muse and how it inspires your words you write I have experimented with this often. I love the mood instrumentals of soothing harp music funnily enough its beautiful to have that in the back of your mind.

Hi, dip;
Yes! Another person who agrees with me! Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. I really enjoyed doing the research for this non-fiction piece and proving my theory to myself.

Better still, there's no greater buzz than writing, and then recording professionally one's own music is the best. But I still perform at my age, because of these reasons you lay out. You'll see the evidence of this in the poems I write, I'm inspired in general terms by most music, but I think you're right in all you've written, well done, for bringing it to mind, (music lead me to poetry, the eternal fount of music) well done, blessings, Roy

Hi, Roy;
thank you so much for indulging me in my hypothesis. I had some fun researching my theory and turning it into a non-fiction piece for the contest. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
As always, thank you for reading and reviewing,

Sometimes songs inspire me and I have gotten ideas for poems from them. Also in a novel I am working on, a song inspired a new character. She's one of my favorites. I think it really depends on the person for whether or not it can help. But it helps me when I'm stuck. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, Natali;
Thank you so much for reading my non-fiction piece, and finding it interesting. I like to try some non-fiction once in a while. It gives me some diversity.

I think you are on to something, Patty. I have done writing-- by accident or because I didn't have any problems at the moment-- while music was playing. Sometimes it can inhibit and other times, it doesn' trouble me. So, I think, for sure, your piece is significant to readers.

Thanks for the advice. I can't listen to music while I'm doing anything else. All I can think about when I'm listening to music are the lyrics. Maybe I could listen to instruments, but would still think about the music.

Hi Thomas;
thank you so much for reading and reviewing. Well, obviously, we can't have a 'write-in' at your house,

Patty, This is a very well written and true write you have done about music and the brain. I think that is why it is so important what we listen to. I know listening to gospel music it makes me happier. When I hear oldies I think about days gone by or loved ones past. Very good assumption my friend. I enjoyed this very much. Blessings, teri

I just thought about Dean and wondered if he listened to dark music when he writes his scary scenes for us to read. He really hates the evenings to come and the numbs in the night that go with it

A very well-written article which I agreed to one hundred percent. Music is always playing inbthr background and it does have an influence on me. There are also music that don't work well with me and can quickly distract me from what I'm busy working on.

Hi Patty,
Even in school we learnt about music therapy and theory in regard to learn in the eighties. It was recommended that doing homework to music was good but listening to music when studying for tests and exams was bad as you learnt the facts/lessons along with the musical composition which would not be present under exam conditions.
Personally I'm not so sure about your theory :) for one simple reason - I don't believe in writer's block. I think one can always write - it may not be good but it is achievable. A lot of authors write through their lack of creativity. It's a matter of productivity and quality as opposed to ability. Or perhaps lack of will. Even in my most apathetic states (which occur quite regularly) I have ideas and snippets that I jot down. I don't have a block, I just can't be arsed. Of course, I also don't believe in muses either, or the Easter Bunny... lol
There is no doubt music helps to lift and lower moods though. That's nothing new. Think of all those sports movies with rousing sound tracks - Rocky and so on.
One thing stuck out at me about this post though and that was the repetitive nature of one phrase in particular.-
has a great effect on the products / brain is affected by music in many ways / somehow affects the creative process / 'Research of the effects of music - all of these are in the first four short paragraphs. it is a little repetitive phrase.
the psychological effects music / the most has a great effect on the music / 'How does Music Affect Your Mood** / filled with sorrow is more effective at making you happy / to determine the effects of background music.
Interesting theory though.
All the best

Hi, G-Man;
thank you so much for reading and reviewing. I always look forward to your critiques because you pick up on the things other reviewers overlook.
I did go and edit the first few paragraphs. Some of the repetitions were in the actual quotes, but my own words were full of repeats.
Thank you for indulging me as I put forth my theory under the guise of a non-fiction piece for the contest,

Comment from Mitchell Brontė
How interesting Patty, I often have music playing in the background as I write, usually it's just the radio but certainly puts me in the mood to write.
Excellent and informative
