A fine and relevant poem for the world situation.
Unfortunately, it has seemingly always been this way.
I remember air raid drills in school
during the cold war and Cuban crisis.

This of course has been the awful threat ever since the end of World War 2. The film Dr Strangelove parodied the situation beautifully. Is the parody going to become a precursor of truth now we have Trump and the impossibly named Kim Jon Ng (did I get that right?) on either side of the diplomatic chessboard? Your short piece here poses that very question without naming names.
