Nice English novel style, the uppity and genteel Lord and his era-defining distaste for Suffragettes and the little details that add to the British charm (Earl Tea and Marmalade). The whole underthread of the illegitimate child adds to the darker stains beneath this gentlemen's otherwise pristine wainscot. Just a thought - would there still be Suffragettes in 1936 Britain? I think they had the vote by the 1920s.

A most encouraging review and delivered in beautiful language - thanks for taking time to read and critique - this is still very much a work in progress - dates etc still to be entered on timeline- these are the essentials that have to be accurate- much appreciated zanya

Good detail. Lots of historical and cultural references to set time and place. Lord Airdale seems to think and have values that were the norm of the time. A sister on the sufferage movement and no apparent heir add. Interest and conflict to the story. I'm interested to see where this goes
