Wow, Tony!
As a speech-language pathologist, I can't tell you how deeply this resonates with me.
Much thought is due
before I gain the words to speak.
Simply brilliant (and utterly true in terms of what's going on in their tiny heads before true speech/language skills emerge.)
Exquisite photo of your granddaughter (what a talented photographer your daughter is!)
Could not be improved upon - this is a wonderful entry!
Good luck!

Very many thanks for your review and supportive comments, Christina. She's just beginning to come out with the occasional word and no doubt when they all fly over for Christmas, there will be no stopping her!
Thank you so much for your award of six stars. Much appreciated! Tony

I really enjoyed reading this contest entry. Much thought should be do as we proceed in life. I think often far to little thought takes place. Thank you for sharing your words of wisdom. Good luck with the contest.

How interesting to come across this today. Just yesterday, I was looking at one of my dogs and contemplating how they think, without a language (at least any that we recognise). Do they think in "bark"? Obviously they can, as can humans who, for one reason or another don't have language - but I don't understand how information can be stored under such conditions.
All that is highly irrelevant rambling, so I'll just get on with it and say this is a delightful exploration of the learning process for a young one. Great job - Craig

Thanks, Craig. I very much appreciate your review and interesting comments. It would be interesting to know how the brain processes information without a bank of words to express the ideas. I guess we'll understand one day! Kind regards, Tony

I think you have a strong competitor here for a Rondelet writing contest, not only true to the form, but with a well-thought-out message. Excellent post.

Hi T, this is a lovely rondelet with excellent incorporation of the repeating line to give the reader pause, as well as good rhyming and use of iambic metre. Love the rhyme pair of mystique and week. Best to you in the contest.

This is an excellent entry in this Rondelet poetry contest Tony. Sometimes the theme can be fairly mediocre in a limiting poetic form such as this, but you've done an excellent job with some great rhyming, well done, good luck, blessings, Roy

A wonderful poem that definitely comes full circle at the end. Thinking can overcome us sometimes, we get lost in our own mind haha! Good luck in the contest with this lovely entry.

Good luck with this one, Tony. You have stuck to the form well and also chosen a perfect illustration to accompany your piece.
I quite like the way this form builds with each repetition. Here you start as if this is simply going to be about a writer groping for words. By the end it has become much deeper, an examination of the miracles of life that we encounter each day, often without any true appreciation of them. This gives the final repetition of the refrain special significance. Great rhyme pair week/mystique.

A beautiful choice of art work to encapsulate your Rondelet which softly dances down the page in the mystique of a child learning how to speak words to communicate with everyone around him or her.
Well done
