I'm with you. I really don't have a "Bucket List," either. I do things when I feel like it, not because I 'should' have something to look forward to. And I also don't care if anyone else has a Bucket List, yet they don't seem to reciprocate that; they are astonished to learn that I don't. In that way, it's starting to feel a little like politics: it's not enough for YOU to like your candidate. If I don't like him, too, we might not be able to remain friends. So weird.

Anyway, thanks for all the thinking you've evoked in me here. (or "blather;" that could be another apt term...)

I never talk politics. NEVER. It makes me nervous when others do. Too many nazi movies, I guess. Lol. Thank you so much for your feedback

This piece, Learning to Live, has been a real eye-opener for me. I, too, had a lot of things that I hoped to do before the dirt was in my face. Since my new grandkids have come along, I now look forward to their accomplishments. I only hope to be there for them. Liked your journal.

Good point about comparing Bucket Lists. All of us are different, so our bucket lists will be different. I like your line "Keep open to life". It is so true, treasure each day. I enjoyed reading your essay.

Hi Gretchen. I think these types of insights come to us through maturity. When we're young we have so many choices and the world is indeed "our oyster." I agree that each day is to be enjoyed because it's the only day we have. This is a well written essay that is clear and interesting for the reader. Marilyn

I agree wholeheartedly. I have no bucket list. Not that I don't want to travel or do fun things. It's just that if I have money and time, it will happen accordingly. Heath issues also play a big part. Nice writing. You got me thinking that it's okay to be different.

What an excellent idea Gretchen, I never thought of a bucket list, but if I did, I think most of the things I've always wanted to do, I've already done, I don't what to climb a mountain, jump out of a plane etc. but other things I've done. It reminds of a scripture. "Don't compare yourself to others, nor measure yourself by other's standards, as the heathen does." 2 Corinthians 10:12. Well done, blessings, Roy

I agree. We would be comparing apples to oranges to compare one person's bucket list to another's. Thank you for sharing this post. It causes me to reflect on my own bucket list.

Preach it sister! I, like most of us, lived most of my life worrying about tomorrow and what might happen in the future, of which I learned, there's no guarantee. In a blink, everything I had hoped, planned, and expected, along with all the reasons I had forgot to live were gone. Then, I started taking life one day at a time. Who needs a bucket list, just live every day for today and experience everything you can. Wishing you the best! Great job. :-)

Clearly and well written. No corrections that I could see.
Wise advise - just live every moment and cross off the bucket list only when completed. Never thought of it that way but it does make sense!
Thanks for sharing.

You are so right Gretchen. If you try to plan ahead you are in for a lot of disappointment. As you say, live life as it comes! Record the good days then when you look back you can smile. Love your thoughts. Well done dear. Nancy
