What a struggle you have to face for your Kenny. I admire your determination and perseverance. The fact that you write this with great detail, and your plan to show this to him in case he asks is amazing...

Hi Lynne and thank you so much for posting this very moving and excellently written account of Kenny's first year. If I'd had a six-star left you would certainly have received it. You will note from my signature that I had to read this piece, even before I knew what it was all about, and I'm so glad I did. There were several phrases that stood out for me, even from the excellent, e.g.
"No, you don't understand. You just told me my son is going to LIVE!"
"Her solutions were simple and did not appear in any medical book. More important, her solutions worked." Sometimes practical is more powerful than theoretical.
"He hugged these "strangers" as if he had known them his entire life. Perhaps he did remember"
I'm sure when the time is right Kenny will be fascinated to read about his first year on this earth. Best wishes to you and all your family, Kenny

A very sad and happy inspirational story. Many hands were invovled in keeping Kenny alive, especially the hands of God. Well written, and your strength and courage are to be applauded. Mary

You have a wonderful story, thank you for sharing, one problem, one of the closing sentences
I will never ask again for anything in prayer, for I realize that everything I need in my life, I see in the faces of my children.
I say to you, be careful with that, I trust you understand what I mean without going too deep here!

I wonder about that all the time... I really do. My only "deal" with God now, is that if He takes me tomorrow, it's OK, as long as I'm not on this earth one second without my children. A little dramatic sounding I suppose, but true. I learned that lesson when faced with the possibility of losing Kenny. Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to understand the underlying emotions I wanted to portray. It means a lot.

you can do a little change here: "I will never again ask for anything in prayer,"

What a wonderful write about such a difficult subject. I was entranced the whole way through it. Thankfully it had a happy ending. I hope that you are all doing well, it seems that this write was cathartic for you and that came through for me.
Good luck with everything and God Bless.

Wow. That was very sad and touching story.
I was a little confused about the disease in the middle, but that quickly cleared away. Must be tough. Good luck and keep good faith.
