Wow, you managed to expressed the significance of independence under much word restrictions -- the acrostic poetic format and the double words (at the beginning and ending of each line).
Perhaps you may want to uncentered the poem, allowing the acrostic format to be more noticeable.

I like to see these flow a little better than this form calls for. What I mean is, more of running sentences than statements, or you get that report style effect, which could be your meaning because of the loop effect, Yet, the statements were strong and resolute.
