OMGsh. . . this poem is just too funny and perfect for the Halloween season. There is one suggestion I would like to make in the second stanza. Where it says "and stomped and swore" I think would work better if there were not and, and so close together. . .how about, "he stomped and swore"? Just a thought.

Thanks so much for the great review! This piece was actually one of several Halloween stories that I had put together several years ago for a Halloween-Tour of the City's park, an annual event where costumed "hosts" walk visitors around the park, telling tales at various locations. This particular story was used as part at the pumpkin patch where several "scarecrows" kept guard of the pumpkins! I've posted a few of the other Halloween pieces that were used at the same time. And wanted to thank you, too, for the suggestion for the 2nd stanza - I'll definitely take a look! Thanks again for the wonderful review - so, so happy that you enjoyed one of my favorites!

It's not yet and I'm not sure if the Halloween prompt allows poems. . .I'll have to check.

I found this work to be exceptionally clever, very well presented in artwork and overall coloration of font etc. The story is delightful and grips the reader at the outset and then strongly to the end, even challenging with the unusual dialog and circumstance...which I also found delightful. I CANNOT suggest a thing to improve this lovely work and thank the author for big smile. HIS GRAYNESS;/ Vance

Good work. Rhymes flowed very well. I did not guess what would happen to the crows, good idea crows turned into scarecrows for stealing out of fields where scarecrows are now placed to guard what they stole.

Mimi,

The story line made sense. The conversation flowed well. The characters were very likable. This poem was arranged very well. Nicely effective and impressive. Very well reflected thoughts and expressions.

There was no SPAG. No typos. No homophones. No problems at all.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal

Thank you so, so much for this lovely review! It was a fun story to write and I was actually pretty surprised myself in coming up with the ironic ending! LOL! This is one of my favorites written as a part of a Halloween series several years ago. I've never done anything with them, but since I've recently retired, decided to see how others felt about my writings. Thanks again for your wonderful review!

Funny. Wonderful rhyming scheme. Animal lovers and Wiccans may not approve; I do. Overall, a bit fluffy on content; but that's true of most comedy. A solid entry into the contest with both good story and poetry.

Thanks so much for your review and am happy that you enjoyed. Actually. it's probably one of my favorites in a series of pieces that I had done for our City's Special Events Team several years ago. They were hosting a Halloween tour in the park and they needed some stories to go along with the scenes they were putting together for the tour. Again, thanks so much for your review!

A very well-written story poem. We should never hesitate to help another in need. We never know when we need them to return a favor to us. Keep the good deeds going and coming.

I really enjoyed your poem and am sure it will do well in the "share a story in a poem" contest. It rhymes and flows beautifully and I like the story you actually tell. Well done and good luck. PM

Hi there,

A nice light-hearted piece of poetry for the comp. Nicely done.

In Jubilee felt a little odd in the second line. not quite sure what you're getting at there. I thought in jubilation but not sure.

"I'm at my Jeeber's end..." - don't really need the closing speech marks here.

Connivingly he schemed - these basically mean the same thing - so schemingly he schemed. (also not sure connivingly is a word).

Thanks so much for a wonderful review! I will have to admit, I did take the liberty of utilizing my "poetic license" in order to achieve the rhythm I was aiming to achieve! LOL! Had so much fun with writing this piece of Halloween mischief and am so happy that you enjoyed. Thanks again!

Never guessed the ending!
You have a clean, conversational tone of rhyme which was easy to follow ... with interest. Never mess with a guy who's owed a witches debt!
The farmer's name, Old McJeebers, even added to the tone of tense frustration, reminding me of phrases such as: heebee jeebies, jeepers creepers.
Well, anyway, it's an enjoyable poem story. Hope it does well in the contest.
