I cried, walked the floor, and was unable to function with any essence of normality due to sciatica, so I do have some idea what you are saying - and I sympathise. My doctors kept upping the intake of oromorph (?) until I finally challenged the prescribing doctor. "This is not working, I'm still in agony and if you keep upping my intake of this medicine I an going to end up an addict and still be in agony." He responded that when the pain began to ease then they would slowly reduce the intake of this prescription drug. Eventually the pain began to subside on its own with the help of Bu Tran patches which eased the pain to a tolerable level. I have reached the conclusion that doctors frequently do not have the answer to a lot of pain. Prayer also played a big part in my eventual relief but my experience is that there is still a 'walking through.' May our God hear your agonised distress call.

Down to earth writing of suffering and its consequences.

    Thank you for the nice review, Juliette. I have spend now over 27 months with the pain. Only had one month fairly free of pain and that was when I was on morphine for 30 days.

I'm sorry that you're in such pain and that you're having so many problems with all of the other medicines. I do hope your letter will do some good. Take care.

I did not know that doctors could no longer prescribe morphine, nor that marijuana could cause bleeding in the eyes. ( I have never smoked anything and will not start now. I take a homeopathic for back and leg pain called BHI.) Thank you for sending and sharing this letter--I hope it has an impact on those in charge of our healthcare system. Best wishes- Joan

Hi Patricia;
I certainly hope your letter will not only help you and your issue - but those of the other people who are being punished for the over-prescribing by some doctors. I also don't think anyone should be pushed into using marijuana because it is the only choice they are given for pain relief.

Praying for you,
~patty~

    Thanks for the nice review. I totally agree that people like me should not be punished because of over dosing by some doctors and the abuse by the young just to get high. I know for a fact that I can take the morphine without any side effects and I only need very small doses to relieve the pain,.

I do hope you succeed in getting morphine prescribed by your doctor. Living in pain day after day must be terrible. I'm sorry you have to endure this.
Your reasons for not wanting to take marijuana are very clearly explained.
Good luck.

    Thank you Maria for the lovely review. Living with pain affects all of our bodily function and not for the good.

This is a very well written letter about the morphine. It is very had to get doctors to prescribe anything that will actually help. Our only true help and hope is calling on the Good Lord. It's getting to be where man can't help us anymore. Very well written. The only thing I can say about pain meds is I take two Ibuprofen and they said I could take more if necessary. It does help. I am so sorry you are having to endure such pain my friend. You will be in my prayers! love, Teri

You go girl, I understand the problem all too well. Thank God I'm not in pain, my problem is more muscle coordination. My friends suffer from pain and have that same problem you talk about in your letter. Well written and I hope it does some good.

    Thank you for the nice review. So many people do not understand people who are in pain and tend to think it is all in our minds.

Hi Patricia, I'm so sorry to hear you are still having the back pain. I do hope your letter will change things and that something can be done for your pain. I know you can get help when you come to the states, but not sure how far out that is yet.

I understand totally the reasoning of suicide when the pain is beyond help. The letter is very well done and the problem is addressed, but the government is the final ruling and people don't count.

    Thank you for your lovely review. I am not wanting to be totally pain free, just get enough relief that I can tend to my daily chores without having to walk ten feet then find a chair.
