Hi, Sandra.
In this chapter, you refer to reading the child a story from Casper the Caterpillar. Naturally, nearly everyone has heard of him. But seeing this is in modern times, why not substitute that old book title with one of your own kids' book titles? It would be a smart marketing move--why let the opportunity go? You decide.
In this chapter, we realise they sure have a problem to sort out. And at this stage, the solution, if any, remains unclear. Hopefully, they'll find a way.

Mildred learning Joe's identity reveal clearly that he is Michael. Joe's bent for the light switch over candles is the clue. And Veronica's ability to go back and forth in time is believed to be the work of something or someone who has the control. She does not believe it happens undirected.

Veronica has always called them the powers that be, because she didn't know, and still doesn't know who or what is manipulating her time travelling. In fact, there is such a group, four 'entities' The Committee, that are watching all she is doing. They have been mentioned at the beginning of every chapter, which is every 6th part. But they will be appearing earlier this time, at the beginning of the next part. That's when things will really happen. This is a great story and I'm really getting into it now. The cast is not too high to keep track of who is who and what they are doing. My favourite part:

"I've always said it was the powers that be who controlled my time travelling--whoever they are. But that was because I had nothing, or anyone else to put the blame on. I don't really know if they even exist. If they do, they'd better bloody well come and sort this out!" PM

And poor Mildred, what a shock to hear Joe's voice coming from little Michael. At least the three adults seem to agree on the possibilities that created this event.
