Well, I'm all in favor of technology, but as you point out it also has disadvantages.
What is gen.Y in the fourth line? Is it a typo?
Thanks for sharing your views.

Well it's referring to the generation the kids are now. I was a baby boomer generation then there was the X generation and the Y generation or "gen Y" as I say.
Thanks so much

Right up mt street this Dip, I hate mobile phones and don't even carry one, I have a basic one that can just be used for calls but that's about it, usually it stays in the kitchen drawer unless I am on a long journey and carry it for an emergency.
Great writing

Well I don't own one, full stop I am disgusted where the Y generation are going with it. Texting is like a disease to me
They are all obsessed.

Hey Dip. I kid you not I have seen kids sitting at the same table texting one another lol. I couldn't believe it. One time I saw a kid text the other kid ordering the hamburger ... omg what a crack up. Made great sense. xoxo Kiwi

I see that as well Deb. Do you know I don't even own one. I have lasted all these years without one.
What annoys me is if I go to the local cafe and there are three tables of young girls ,they are all on their mobiles texting, not one is conversing with the other.
Thanks for sharing

Herky-jerky with the meter - but who cares? As long as the sentiment, theme and rhymes are on, everything else is fine. Actually, D., I plan on having a land line under a bushel basket stuffed with cotton so I don't have to either see or hear the damn thing.

fkg meter!! fk the meter! haha It reads ok out loud. I still have a landline as my internet hangs off it.
thanks Thal as always
-
D., when you have passed away, I am going to put a poetic epitaph on your grave stone that is intentionally out of meter! Bwahahaha.
-
For every meter there's a yard
For every centimetre there is a inch
I'm 6 ft under in this regard
Just 2 metres at a pinch
For every pint there is a litre
For every tonne there is a ton
for every egg there is a beater
This rhyming's just a bit of fun
lol dip thanks as always Thal

I so agree, communication between people is all through technology. I mean we text happy birthday, I love you, and even text break-ups. Back in my day we didn't have cell phones and somehow we functioned fine? Go figure? Technology in general, to me, has gotten out of hand. Thanks for sharing. N.B.

Yes but you can't put emotion in text and that causes a lot of problems between people. lol
This whole piece is perfectly true and well done altered rhyme

Thank you so much as always Barb. Just curious , for my own understanding. What do you mean by altered rhyme.
If its to do with the rhyming differences between my country and yours because of accent for world/held then I understand. This one always gets queried when I use it.
thanks so much, Dip
-
Yes because I don't know the pronunciation of the words, so instead of saying it is wrong, which it is not, to me it is like altered rhyme. Am I stating it wrong?
-
no no That's fine I have no idea if it's the correct term but it sounds ok to me lol

Dip, This is a very well written and very true poem you have penned. You used very good descriptive wording and very good imagery. It is really kind of sad that we depend so much on the cell phone! Great job. Blessings, Teri
