I thought this poem was flawless and touching and simply beautiful. I wouldn't change a thing. I'm pretty sure it will be among the winners in this contest. I look forward to seeing the results. ;") Best of luck! MM

Beautiful poem that reads so smoothly it is a pleasure to behold. The scene is so nicely described it is easily pictured. You tale in verse draws the reader in so well. The conclusion is perfect and so is the image you used.
Excellent posting!

Purple is your favourite colour I think, and you have obtained an excellent colour match, tone and shade for your picture and background. The poem is in ballad rhyme and meter and can therefore be sung to a wide variety of tunes. This was the classic metre used by the broadsheet authors of the 17th, 18th and nineteenth centuries as it is such a singable metre.

Thank you for the amazing and thoughtful review. I had not thought of it as a song but I can see your point. I greatly appreciate the encouragement.

Oh what a wonderful poem. Wanderlust hits us all at one time or another, and we yearn for far off adventures. But it has also been said that once we get our adventure we find ourselves dreaming of home. The simple things do seem just routine and we yearn for more. But those of us who live with the "more" sometimes must yearn for the routine.

-Lovely image.
-Very nice imagery, rhyme, and
meter that create a good flow
to your story/poem.
-You also create vivid word
pictures of the places you would
go, but realize you are happy
right where you are.
-Good luck in the contest.

This is an excellent poem and entry for the contest
with smooth meter and fine rhyme
You can't get much more purple than this,
unless you throw in a few grapes
But no sour grapes here,
just an excellent lead in to the last line
Sometimes, the simplest is the best
Good luck in the contest

This is a nice poem for the contest entry :) I love the title, and can picture a bunch of iris dancing in the breeze. This title sets the scene for a lovely experience. Your message has fine descriptions. Just when I thought you were finishing up, you tossed in the romance part and provided all your title and contest hinted at. Well done. Best wishes in the contest.

Hi JMF. What a beautiful piece of writing and a wonderful entry into the love poetry contest. I love the travel references and then the decision that home is right where you want to be. Bravo. Excellent entry into your contest. xoxo Kiwi

I thoroughly enjoyed your romantic love poem friend : ) Being content with what we have and knowing where home is... that is a very special kinda love. To have that kind of deep love is what all deserve, we all hope for it but alas few find it.
I'm one of the lucky ones, I got to do both. I travelled around the world with my love and have now settled and had children : ))

What a lovely piece. It is soft as a hint of violet. My bedroom was decorated in the same color and was always so peaceful to me so I believe I understand your true meaning. it's like letting out a sigh.
