A thoroughly enjoyable read. You have said what many of us have been tempted to many times.

Your reference to the overuse of punctuation is hilarious

Best of luck in the contest

This is a funny entry in the contest. You weave humor into the 'revenge' critique as you point out his many errors. Good job.

The writing is clear, and the last line "like mine, for instance" when suggesting that he stop and think before critiquing a piece of writing that is far superior to his is a good ending.

Liked the way you worded your revenge reviewing in addition to the title that truly fits the topic. In the nicest way, you highlighted four majors items that the writer should watch out for -spacing between paragraphs, facts, punctuations, forced humor.

There is certainly nothing to right in this writing of yours, Deniz! Wow! You've packed a powerful punch here - a real ONE-TWO-KNOCKOUT! Now, the only question that remains is: Does the recipient of this review have enough knowledge and insight to RECOGNIZE how thoroughly they've been trounced?!?

Fantastic, entertaining and funny - satire at its best! Good luck in the contest!

Disclaimer to all; this entry is from a culmination of reviewing experiences on FanStory. I have been on both sides of reviewing, from newbie twit myself, whose first review was a rewrite of someone else's essay, to being given a two star review from another newbie no it all (that's a pun, not a misspelling).

For the most part, FanStory is a great site, offering support and feedback I have not found on other similar sites. It can be frustrating when a writer gets an unfair review, but perhaps it is from someone giving there first review in terrible earnestness. So let's all cut each other some slack and look for what the writer is actually trying to express more than we do the errant comma or misplaced apostrophe.

So my entry is supposed to be satire, which I take to mean sarcasm with a point other than simply dissing someone. Thanks to all who read, reviewed and responded so nicely. Dennis

Brilliant, mate.
I had a bloke that trashed one of my funny stories and gave me a 2 for it. Everyone else gave me a 5 or even a 6. He gave me a couple of cliched statements about why he'd scored me so low. They were obviously only intended to make him sound knowledgeable, but didn't do anything for me. He's no longer in the group.
I'd say that you must have had one of these reviews as well.
Very good use of your imagination, though. It's a very important writer's tool.
Good luck in the contest, mate.

Personally, I feel very good when I find an error in someone's work. Not because it gives me a chance to pick holes in them, but because it gives me a chance to HELP another writer on FS. This is the way that the group has helped me.
I've never been on another site like this, so I wouldn't know how other sites act.

Hi Deniz,

Well, you certainly have it in you to give a nice solid and helpful 'revenger' review I would say. lol

The best ones are the ones that sound like real reviews but mean something completely different.lol

All the best

G'day Dennis.

Good to see you here, Sir.

"In fact, it is easily the singular attraction of the whole article, and certainly the most understandable." (Hahahaha!)

That is one heck of a funny yarn, mate. Some beautiful biting comments and you've given me the idea to pick up my computer and shake the thing so I can my commas out and scattered lol.

A very good contest entry and I wish you the best of luck in it. (Sorry, I don't have a six left.

Cheers Fez

This a very creative and effective response to the contest challenge.

The whole white space part is my favorites....and the extension of it made me chuckle:

In fact, it is easily the singular attraction of the whole article, and certainly the most understandable. You may have raised the art of reading between the lines to a whole new level, where the reader's imagination is fully engaged in ascertaining exactly what you are talking about in your run-on-sentences. Said sentences are useful however, for dividing the restful white spaces.

*
Tonto did NOT defeat Custer at the Little Big Horn(,) as you know, but many of your facts are just as ludicrous.

Ha ha: You have so many commas in the first few paragraphs, it looks like you shot the page with birdshot.

Ha ha ha:
Perhaps a vigorus shaking of your computer would scatter them as randomly on the bottom as they are found on the top?

*And using Jeff Foxworthy's signature line is simply unforgiveable in such a setting.

unforgivable - check spelling (unless that is UK?)

*
Stop and think;(:) "Is this right? Is this appropriate?"

This is a witty entry. Should do well. Good luck!

Warmly, rd

PS love the title too.

Ideally, a review should do both, in my opinion. It need not be either or. :)

Loved it! It is vengeance served with acerbic wit - without crossing over into vulgarity or abusiveness. Should do very well in the contest.

The problem with reviewing and/or reviewers, Dennis, is that there are no reviewing skills required to offer a review.

Hi!
You've raised all very good points here.
In particular, I enjoyed your parting shot:
This is also a good future exercise for you in reviewing writing far beyond your level of literary skills.

Like mine, for instance.
