agony, fear, and shock are all very strong emotions which can leave you in a black hole. But there is hope to escape in faith. Thank you for sharing and best wishes in the contest

This speaks man's helplessness in raising questions about black hole at instance of lack of complete discoveries of truths of cosmology or cosmic science to man; I liked.

do you know the name of the sad piano song? That is lovely - as is your poem.
I think we do question and wonder at the misfortune of others when we are safe and sound, but I do not feel guilty. I feel grateful.
Your musical examples are very good and enjoyable to listen to. I especially liked the piano piece, though, and would love to know the name and performer if you should know. thank you.
But isn't it wonderful, all the people who have gone to Houston to help? Good old American spirit! I am proud of our country. I wish everybody was.
I really like your poem. It is beautifully written and thought provoking.

This made me think of Hurricane Harvey and other traumatic natural events that make us aware our powerlessness. Great imagery that appeals to our senses. Alliteration of h and f throughout add to the poetic format. Both the beginning and thought-provoking ending made me wish I still had a six left.

Human nature is such that we must see or hear of the suffering of others and not once giving of ourselves to help end the suffering. We then turn around and suffer and wonder why no one is willing to help us in our time of need. Patricia

I agree with what you've conveyed here in your thought provoking free verse, DALLAS.
With the exception of one small thing:
You won't find me curled up in my living room watching the boob-tube. Well, perhaps twice a week.
I'll be in my office banging away at the keyboard of my desktop trying to come up with the next great poem to rival Edgar Allan Poe's, "The Raven."

I couldn't watch the clip with the doggy, the picture alone broke my heart. This is sad indeed, and we'll never have all the answers. Where is the reasoning? To what purpose? A wonderful poem, blessings...

Yes we question all and don't always get the answers and some answers we don't want. My favourite line is: 'Our swirling pool of powerlessness', an intriguing write and food for thought, love Dolly x

I know exactly what you mean. With the advent of TV, we certainly have a window onto that wave of problems that humanity faces, usually of its own making. Beautifully observed, and scribed with passion on the canvass of the heart, to bring out the sheer frustration of of us that hurt. Great free verse, and a message to us all! Well done, great expression, blessings, Roy

This poem highlights the sadness we all feel about an inability to change that which needs change.
I especially love the line,...Our swirling pool of powerlessness;
Very well written and thought-provoking.
Thank you.
