I saw that program too. It is amazing what our modern technology and abilities do to archaic beliefs. In Northern Canada a bear or two have been sited that are called Pologriz,( I think that's the name). Anyway, they are a cross between Polar and Grizzly bears. Science says this is happening because of the reduction of available polar foods as a result of melting sea ice, seals are becoming less and less available as a food source. Looks like Newton had a good point. Survival of the fittest and all. Nice write with good information and a swell picture.

Well, the origin of the new whale is sad as heck, but your poem about how they met...and how this new hybrid came into being... it's just really beautiful. I like this very much. Last line is my favorite, though I'm not certain why.
