This historically sound poem is impressive at the least. The use of the N word, though jarring, is understood for the time reference it is placed within the historic timeline and the norm for that period.
To be able to pull this off lends to a solid knowledge of historical events in this country; the good along with the deplorable.

I made it through it and even got your notes before I read them. Love the continual change up but is that poetry? I've been criticized and ostracized about that very same thing abort iambs, counts and so much more so I guess I'm not a poet but a destroyer of iambic pentameter and such. Oh well, here will come another day in which no one's hands will be completely clean. What a great pice ;-D

I had to read it a few times to get the progression and the underlying terms you used for common place things of the times as you passed through them. I still will ask the question I thought each time I read this...how do we stop hate?

This is a serious look at not only the history of our nation, it is also a serious look at the issues that have caused much consternation in our country. It is actually a snapshot of our national historical narrative. That it is done with tongue firmly in cheek does not alter or diminish its truth and effectiveness. Well done my fellow patriot.

That time in our history was a horrible horrible time. I hate to think we could ever go back to that way of thinking. It seems everybody hates everybody else and to me that's scary.

This is a very impressive write, the length and creativity of your poem draws the reader in and takes them on a journey through a turbulent and for many shameful part of American history. But it also highlights the pride of a nation who stood up and were counted against all the odds. The KKK and other hate groups will always exist unfortunately, they embrace and prefer to dwell in darker side of human nature. Good look mate, I loved it!

I like the rhyme and rhythm of this epic poem...it's a story in a poem. Wow, you know how to say it like it is...it's very honest and bold. I can't believe our stupid president like white supremacists ... well, I do believe it but it makes me sick. He is suppose to set the ethical compass of our country but he has no idea what the hell he is doing.
Mickey Mouse could do a better job. Good job sweetie pie.
